Today is 2 days post surgery. It has been rough. Got to go home today and came and took a nap. Didn't sleep well in the hospital at all. I haven't had to take any pain meds since leaving the hospital but I will tonight before I go to bed. I've been trying to get broth down, sf jello, water and powerade zero. I think I've been pretty successful but I'm ready to start feeling better. Thursday, obviously, was the worst. I really wondered if this was worth it or not. Friday was a little better but I

So the big day is just 2 days away. I went to see my doctor yesterday and I've lost 15lbs on the pre-op diet. Overall, good appointment. It reminded me of why I chose my doctor. He's wonderful and confident and I have every confidence in his abilities.
The downside: I have to be at the hospital at 6am. However, I am the first surgery of the morning. He said I'd be in my room by 10am.
The downside: I'm starting to crawl out of my skin. I'm having cravings like you wouldn't believe.

So I had my official pre-op nutritionist appointment today. I was very happy (if anyone can be happy about this type of appointment) that I only have to do a 3 week pre-op diet. I know most of the people here only have to do a 2 week pre-op diet but they had originally told me it would possibly be a 4 week pre-op. So I got the list of things I can and cannot eat and drink. I was pleasantly surprised that I get a 2 snacks and there is quite a few choices (bread included) in the dinner options. I

So I had to have an EGD done on Monday and thought I'd call my insurance company to see if they received all needed documentation for the prior-authorization approval. To my surprise they had it and the nurse had already approved and faxed back to my doctor's office. I was very happy and relieved. Unfortunately when I spoke with my doctor's office they said they hadn't seen anything but would check with my insurance and call me back. Well, since I hadn't heard anything in 4 hours, I called my insurance

The EGD was the final piece that was required by my insurance company and that was completed yesterday. My doctor's nurse said that we should hopefully have an answer by the end of April. I did have a hiatal hernia which will be repaired at the time of surgery. The EGD wasn't as bad as I expected but then again, it had it's negatives as well. They sprayed this unholy nastiness into my mouth to make me not have a gag reflex. I had heard bad things about this so I was prepared. I'm not sure if she
