  1. Thank you so much Miss Ann...I have struggled so much and I can finally say how happy I truly am. This surgery in itself, gave me my life back and I do not hesitate to praise it for what it's worth. As long as someone is mentally ready, then I say go for it. Being a nurse, I no longer feel like a hypocrite when I explain that I was type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure and now I only take 2 pills for high blood pressure but not because of my blood pressure. I take it to save my kidney. I will torture myself and check my blood sugar after eating and it is NORMAL. I can not put into words what losing weight did for me. I can eat anything, but I try to stick to my plan as I am afraid but I know deep down that I will be ok.

Hello sleeve sista! How are you? Checking in on you.
  4. Hi...sorry it took me a minute to reply. It is a constant battle for me and something I must always watch, is my eating. Thank you very much!! Yes, it is hard but possible.

WOW, you looking goo, I know I do crave sweets and need to watch it, I know my bad, glad you are realizing you need to love yourself. I know, it was hard for me too and I am doing it, I know I think more positively
  6. WOW...that is amazing! You are doing great! I can squeeze my booty in a size 8 and I am loving the new me. Took me some time to adjust to the changes and to embrace them. The single, much thinner, healthier me is learning to love the new me. I agree with you!! This was the absolute best decision that I have EVER made in my life. I am working full time & in college so working out is hard but I try to make time. I barely started back on biotin, so I hope it gets better. My hair has thinned out over the years but it is ok. I cut my hair short (chin length) to allow it to grow back healthy. I still stand behind my decision and hair grows. It really isn't that bad and by cutting it shorter, it helps a ton. My skin is holding up well. My boobs are still there. LOL they don't go anywhere I could definitely use a lift and a tummy tuck but I want to wait till I lose the rest of my weight. I am happy for you as well!!

Twins sista I am doing amazing. In a size 6 now and lost almost 70lbs. I am very strict with what I eat. Especially now that I notice I can just a little more I avoid bread and sugar like the plague and take it easy on my salt intake. I still like chips more than I want to so I avoid them, but once in a blue moon do eat a few. I am so happy I did it too. Girl this was the best thing for me
I am still not working out. I want to hit my goal of 135 then hit the gym hard. My skin has been pretty good too. Not too saggy. People assume I work out because my body looks toned lol. I have been religious about taking biosol pills so my hair loss was very little. Thank God since I love my hair. I get more periods now since the weight loss. I went to go get a consultation for my boobs and tummy tuck. Girl I am getting them done! Have to plan my time off and hit goal first. Anyway, so happy you are doing great!
  8. Hi....I am doing great!!! It is amazing and weight loss is slow for me but comes off. I am so happy for the surgery and I feel amazing. I am in a size 8 and I am down almost 60 lbs. I still am working on losing 20-30 more lbs but not putting any pressure on myself. How are you doing?
  9. View Conversation
Hey twin sleeve sista! How you doing? I have not checked in for a while.
  10. I am doing great!!! So very close to onederland!!! I have no restrictions and no problems with water. Now, I do have a hard time sometimes to remind myself to eat slowly so I have thrown up a few times. Not too bad but I have to learn to get that part down. I wear a size 10 comfortably at 204 lbs but I am all chest...LOL my girls don't go anywhere. ha!! I am losing hair but nothing that I am worried about. I just keep with the protein and daily vitamins. I don't do anything specific for my hair. I did cut several inches off so it wouldn't weigh heavily but it isn't noticeable. Thank you for saying that!! I am eating pretty much whatever I want, when I want just in small portions.

How are you my sleeve twin! ? I am doing great! Thank you for asking. I started at 223.4 day of surgery and I am 185.4. I weigh everyday to ensure I continue to lose. Still anal about taking in my vitamins and protein. My water intake is still a bit of a challenge, but I bought a 80 ounce jug and carry it around everywhere I go. I usually take in about 60 ounces. Still trying to take in the 80. I am wearing a solid size 12. Can't wait to be a size 6 or 4. By the way your profile picture is beautiful.
Oh wanted to ask you...are you losing hair? I have notice more hair coming out, but nothing crazy. I have always had a lot of hair.
So how are you? How is your eating?
  12. Thank you

    Thank you for your input.
  15. Hi....with my protein drinks & greek yogurt, I get to like 60. I upped my water to 2 liters a day, so I am feeling better. I am slightly sore but not really. I am ok to go to work (I saw a Bariatric Dr, my Nephrologist & my Surgeon) and they all said how great I was doing, yet we all agreed I can go back to work. If I can walk miles with no problem then I am ready. I agreed and I feel ready.

For anyone contemplating surgery with 1 kidney

by stargazerlily on 09-21-2015 at 01:17 PM
I haven't been on here in a minute but I felt the need to express my journey in case anyone who reads this is in my shoes....

Before I had the GS surgery, I had a radical nephrectomy in 2012. In 2010 during a routine abdominal ultrasound for the Lap Band, a tumor was found on my left kidney. I never had any symptoms of kidney cancer and I fought my diagnosis from day 1. At the time, I was in nursing school and I was too busy to stop my life to worry about something I felt was nothing.

1st large goal DONE!!!

by stargazerlily on 05-17-2015 at 01:33 AM
I am almost 2 months post op and I am oh so HAPPY to report that I am now at the same weight I was at 20 years old (I am 43 years young today =0).

At times I wonder if I am eating the right food, chewing slow enough, drinking enough protein, drinking enough water, am I eating too much, am I stretching my perfect little tummy, how much do I weigh...I can go on and on but I am sure everyone can relate to these questions. I will say that I am getting used to all of the compliments and

Almost 1 month out!!!

by stargazerlily on 04-19-2015 at 12:37 PM
This is a little bit about my personal journey but at the end, we are all unique and different, so do not worry....

When I contemplated WLS years ago, I wanted to have the Lap Band. When a tech found a tumor on my left kidney during a routine abdominal ultrasound, all WLS dreams was put to a halt. Fast forward 5 years later and with all of the medical issues related to the Lap Band, I knew the VGS was the right choice for me. I have only had 1 other surgery and I handled that perfectly

Just sleeved 3/23

by stargazerlily on 03-25-2015 at 06:24 PM
Hello....so I was just sleeved 2 days ago and my journey has been enlightening, to say the least.

To give a little history, I have 1 kidney related to renal cell carcinoma found in 2010 during an abdominal ultrasound for the Lap Band. I was blessed in 2013 to have my kidney removed and found it was to be stage 1 without any other involvement. I am a type 2 diabetic and I have been lucky to control it with diet, exercise and metformin. I also take Cozaar for kidney retention.
