    Hi Ddoodles
Hope you are back to a fairly normal routine and doing well ! Was there any need to bring any type of bandage, bandaid, strip, tape, gauze, etc... ? Thanks
  2. I had the compression boots during surgery only. I was up and walking within 1 1/2 hr after surgery. I was given Tordal for pain. I had thigh high compression socks on the entire stay and switched to knee high socks for the plane flight home. I don't think you need the compression devices for after surgery. I was up walking because of gas pain every hour for 10 mins. I could only sleep 2-3 hrs at a time at night, so I walked every time I awoke.

Glad you are getting your protein and liquids in. That is great! Dr Janine told me clear liquids for a week but if you can tolerate shakes, why not.
    Quick questions:
1.Did they use the SCD (sequential compression devices ) on your legs? These are the boots that automatically inflate and deflate. I was told they do. I believe they use them in the OR and recovery room. If yes, did they use them when you were returned to your room? I plan to ask to have them for at least 24 hours.
    2. Do you recall the meds they gave you during your stay other than the prescriptions you had to purchase?

Thanks. Keep up the good work!!!!!!
  4. I had only clear liquids until day day 4 post op. I knew my sleeve could handle the shakes. I'm going to continue with premier protein shakes and clear liquids until day 7 post op. My HW was 244 SW 230 CW 224....it's working. I also can have regular black coffee, I water it down alittle and drink it only warm.

Glad to hear that you are having a positive post op experience!

When did you start liquid protein? Would love to hear details and advice when you have the time.
  6. 4 days post op and I'm feeling really good. Pain level 1-2 on occasion. I'm quite surprised at how easy it is to get my liquids in. I'm alittle concerned at how easy it is. I got 80oz of water, and two entire premier protein shakes in. My Doctor used a 32 bougie and I watched my fluoroscopy test.....the sleeve and pouch are pretty darn small. Can this be normal? I just expected to struggle more.

Safe travels home! Glad to hear that you are well.
  8. I was discharged today and decided to stay in San Diego tonight. Pain is a 3-4 out of ten. Gas X is a must have. The staff and Dr.s at the hospital are all so very nice and professional. I am actually able to drink fluids very easily without discomfort. You should bring a heating pad......so glad I brought one. Post op Meds are $220 at the hospital. Sorry for the rambling....pain med. I was able to sit in the Cheese Cake Factory while my friends ate and I never felt hungry. Very strange to experience.

    Great to hear! Congrats!
  11. I'm sleeved. It has all gone very smoothly. In some pain from gas but it's bearable. Walking is the absolute key. Will post more tomorrow.
  12. Good luck today!

Good luck D ! Have a good nite of sleep and before you know it, you will be over!
  15. Okay, I'm off to catch a plane to San Deigo in one hour. I will try to post up dates as I go. Surgery should be late morning to early afternoon tomorrow. Wish me luck. Do you think a small glass of white wine on the flight will be considered "clear liquid"? Lol

When can you start your normal Meds after surgery?

by Ddoodles on 02-11-2015 at 10:54 PM
I take an antidepressant daily, and I am wondering when I can start taking it again post op. I kinda turn into a B@tch more than two days without it. Anyone know??
