You said to ask for the "happy meal" the night before surgery lol. What is that??
  2. So, it has been 3 months yesterday and my health is sooooo much better. My chol is good, my triglycerides are half what they were. My A1c is wnl and my blood pressure is normal. What more can you ask for? Oh, how about a loss of 40 pounds? I still need to lose more and firm up, but I am quite happy!!
  3. It went relatively well. I am a bit sore today, but I had surgery...laparoscopic, but surgery. I did not get sick. Overall, I am ready for the next stage. I do not have hunger, but how often do we eat when we have true hunger? I know I did sometimes, but usually.

I followed the pre op diet and walked as soon as I woke. The people were I went are great. It was a very small hospital so I felt like a small family!

Over all, so far so good.

Hi, I hope you are doing well. I read a little of you posts and saw that you had your surgery. Just wanted to know how your experience was and what to expect
  5. Going soon.....yikes!

You are in my thoughts today Pam. Good Luck!
  8. How is it going? I am leaving Thursday....I am ready, just hope i remember everything.
  9. I am good. Looking forward to being on the other side of surgery. It is brutal out. If you want to get out, you could go to fox valley mall. You can walk around and there are benches to rest if you needed. Lots of sites and sounds.
I will be buying gas X and toiletries this weekend in preparation for the trip. Also trying to decide what I need when it get home. I would like to have some broth and things in the pantry so I don't have to mess with it when I get home. It will be warming up in a couple of months and then we can really enjoy our new mobility!

Keep in touch and take care.

    Hi Pam,

How is it going? I am in the boring part of recovery. Feeling pretty good but it is crappy enough outside that I don't really want to go out. The weight keeps dropping off slowly and I am starting the stage two diet. Not hungry but making sure I eat enough and get my protein. The worst part for me yet is my Saint Bernard wants to play the pull game and I can't!

I am done using my Incentive Spirometer if you need one. I do not know much about how it works in Mexico but I found my airflow was pretty constricted post surgery. The tell me it is for preventing pneumonia. Being a nurse you would know better than I.

Just thought I would check in and see how your preparations were going.

    Joe
  11. I will be wishing you a vey happy birthday as I am walking around trying to get rid of gas... Lol
  12. Thanks. I do not regret having my gastric sleeve, I was tired of over eating, I will be thinking of you. Your surgery date is on my 58th Birthday. Take care I will be in touch soon.
  13. A pre op diet, blood work, EKG. I am a nurse so hopefully what I know will affect what I do. My BMI is 34, so it is self pay. I have metabolic syndrome, so I am hoping this procedure will eliminate some of those problems.

I certainly could not have done this without my wife! So what are you doing to prepare yourself for your trip? I had to get a number of different test done, get OK's from my doctor, a pulmonary doctor (sleep apnea), a psychologist, an endocrinologist (found that I had hyperthyroid during the initial blood tests), and was on a Very Low Calorie Diet for a month before surgery.
  15. Yes, we are almost neighbors. I live on New York behind the old aurora Christian ( soon to be completely gone) in the brick Italianate. I am glad you are doing well. I have surgery two weeks from tomorrow. I think we can be a support for one another. Along with our spouses... Keep in touch. I'll be rooting for you!
