How are you doing? I am down 30 lbs and next week I can start exercising.

Sorry I have not been in touch. The week after I came home is a blur. I slept most of the time and when awake I cooked. Weird, but it was therapeutic. My family is to the brim with food. I stayed on my post op plan, though. I am down 29 pounds since I started my pre-opt diet. I do not have any pain and have gone back to work. With the weather getting better, I am hoping to be able to get out and walk or bike very soon. How are you doing?
  3. Last Heparin Shot today! I was getting tired of those three shots a day. Everything else is going well. Cheated the other night and PAID for it with discomfort! 15 days since surgery. Still no nausea that was not my own fault. I am down 27 pounds since the surgery and 73 pounds since I started this process late October of last year. Feeling good but getting a little bored around the house. Can't wait to start exercising. It has been too damn cold to go out for a walk. My Saint Bernard wants to play the pull game constantly but I could not because of the weight restrictions. Then I put bungee cords between her toy and the chair I was sitting on so all I had to do was hold the toy. She is happy.

Yes. I am ready just a little nervous.
  6. I have not made an update post yet. Had my one week post op appointment today. Everything is going very well. I moved to the stage two diet (pureed everything) and am not having any issues with nausea. Still got a little pain but better living through pharmaceuticals!

How are you doing? Got everything ready for you and your husband to go down? How long will you be there? What are your post op requirements since you will not be seeing your surgeon?

How is your journey going? 9 days and counting before I am "sleeved". Very excited and anxious, but ready!
I hope this note finds you well.

How are you? Well, I hope. Where do you live in Aurora? I live on the west side in a historic district.

One week Post Op Dr appt today

by JoeJ on 02-16-2015 at 07:50 PM
Had my one week appointment today. All is going very well. Incisions are healing properly, pain is lessening, no nausea, and weight is dropping. I was surprised that I came home a few pounds heavier than when I left but they did fill me up with fluids. Makes sense I just did not expect it. Moving on to the stage two diet now. Pureed everything! Fortunately I have an uncle who cooks everything from scratch and he has taken my diet and started making me soups. He is freezing them in 1/2 cup

Home from the hospital

by JoeJ on 02-10-2015 at 08:40 PM
Now that I am home I can write a post. The surgery went well. While they were in there they also repaired a paraesphageal hernia. Everything went well with no complications. I was walking an hour and a half after the procedure. The only problem that I encountered was due to the anesthesia. My bladder was not "waking up" and I ended up having a catheter the first night. Fortunately I was able to void this evening so that I could be released to go home. I am still finding myself

Surgery on Monday

by JoeJ on 02-07-2015 at 07:43 AM
Finally jumped the last hurdle and the surgery is a go. My preop blood test showed low vitamin D and hyperthyroidism. My Primary Care Physician wanted me to see an endocrinologist so I made an appointment for Feb 6. My surgery was scheduled for Feb 9. Surgeon decided that he needed a release from the endocrinologist before he would do the surgery. I had an hour from the end of my appointment to get his office to call before my surgeons office closed. Fortunately the planets aligned and all
