  2. Congratulations Teri! Happy to hear you feel great too! I am taking 3 full weeks cause I will take advantage of the short term disability and anything to catch a break from the stress at my job. By any chance did you have sleep apnea or if you havent do you sleep better in general? And if you did have apnea did you use a cpap machine to sleep cause I do and I dont ever use it and I dont want to bring the damn machine to surgery day with me. How about you with your job, how much time did you take off?
  3. P.S. I asked my husband to not tell his family. I JUST DON'T WANT THEM TO KNOW. I DON'T HAVE TO SEE THOSE PEOPLE UNTIL THANKSGIVING I DON'T HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WITH MY IN-LAWS, I AM JUST MARRIED TO THEIR BROTHER. MY HUSBAND KNOWS THAT I DON'T LIK HIS FAMILY.
  4. Thank you for positive information, I was feeling sorry for myself self for a moment. My son had to escort me to take care of business affairs. I felt like a sick old lady. My mom came over yesterday morning to visit. I think she has accepted my decision for my surgery. She bought me a very beautiful house coat with the matching house shoes, and 2 duster gown dresses. l will going to the hospital in about 3 1/2 hours, @6:00a.m. Surgery @ 9:00 a.m. I am concerned, but I will not change my mind. Thanks for the information, I will be in touch and please make sure that you take care of YOU. I had stopped taking care of me, now I taking control of my life. As Janet Jackson sings I'm in CONTROL. WILL BE IN TOUCH, AND THANKS FOR YOUR POSITIVE WORDS,
    THANKS,

  6. Yes that was me at group when Joe was out for two weeks. Thanks for a little insight on the protien shakes cause I am lost on that especially brand and taste. Two questions for you....how do you feel overall lately and are you completly happy so far with the sleeve? Lastly did you do any pre-op diet leading up to your day cause I am just like 15 days away and I have been doing the food funeral thing but not every day?

Thank you Aydensmomma for the encouragement!
I will take your advice and get patients of Dr. Almanza.
  9. Yes! And thank you Teri! I did go to family intervention on Monday nights to do group with Joe the psychologist. Why should we have to explain oursevles or give reasons on our decisions to try and explain our position to ignorant attitudes. When the main reality that we chose this is for our overall health. No others are going to look out for number 1 and as anything in life that we want if we dont make efforts to get what we want , it wont just fall into our laps one day. Lastly not for nothing but this whole process was a 6 month effort from first consultation through pre-op requirements right up to surgery day. I dont mind telling someone who supports or is curious as to why and as for the jerks out there..,,just consider the source! LOL

Thanks you so uh for telling me this. Another friend on this site told me the same thing. Even though I have not Lost this week I got a lot of comments about how my body is smaller and that they can see a difference,so I probable am loosing inches this week. Thanks for talking. To em, I was really bummed out. I'm glad to hear its normal. I hope your doing great and I hope to hear from. You again.

  11. Hey Teri, I will be facing thst same kind of drama soon myself with my in-laws too. Today I had my endoscopy with Dr. Macaron and he is totaly awesome and reassuring and even went the extra mile to order me an ekg immediately after I awoke from being put out today to provide proof to my primary care doctor in order to get me clearance for my surgery which is coming up Feb26th in a couple of weeks!

Hey Teri, First I wanted to thank you for the encouragement you sent me in a previous post earlier today about my upcoming surgery, you are a sweetheart. Second about your dinner with what I like to call the out-laws lol. I have had this same issue running through my mind about what other people will say and think. One thing I thought of as far as not eating allot in front of others and explaining away the pounds was - EXCUSE #1 I'm doing the 310 shakes that Kim Zolziak Bierman is doing form the Atlanta housewives - chances are people won't know who she is and if you see her before and afters they might believe you she looks amazing. Another is i'm on Nutri-System which I personally have done a total of 5 times and lost up to 40 lbs. each time but guess what it came back and then some every time. Or you could just be honest and screw them if they don't like it, honestly if they only liked you when you were thin it say's an awful lot about a persons character. Either way I hope your son doesn't say anything and if he does be sure not to look stunned just laugh it off. Try to have fun and can't wait to hear what happens. Good Luck

Hey! Thank you! I had my surgery April 3, 2014 - so I am 10 months postop. I had the Lapband first. I only lost about 30 lbs with it, and when I got my sleeve I've lost the rest I do have some extra skin. My arms, inner thigs, and lower stomach. It's not a pretty sight, but it's not THAT bad. I dont think random people notice it. Just me! lol. I'd still take the skin over the fat any day! You look amazing too! Wonderful job! I think I need to update my before/after pics. I dont think I even put up one at my heaviest. I JUST found one. I didnt really take pictures back then! I will do that soon!
  15. I went to church on Sunday, and I prayed for Peace. Because I was very worried and scared. Then I thought that I had undergone Colon Cancer, 2 horrible thyroid surgeries, 2 carpal tunnal surgeries, and an abalsion of the uterus. God brought me through so, don't be afraid. Because I can not turn back. My mother and auntie they don't approve of the gastric sleeve. But, I have always been the sickly person in the family. Plus I had to suffer 3, miscarriages, before my first husband had 2 successfully pregnancy.
I am doing this surgery for me, my husband now support s my decision. I have made up my mind, that I don't want to Sick, Fat, and Cripple. The arthritis, is severe, and this surgery will help correct this disease.n Today I start my liquid diet. I HAVE NOT ANY PROTEIN YET. NOT FEELING WELL TODAY. OWN MY WAY TO THE GROCERY STORE FOR PROTEIN PRODUCTS. SURGERY IN 7 DAYS NOW. I KEEPS IN TOUCH WITH YOU.

About Aydensmomma
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I am a mom, I have an 8 yr old son named Ayden...that's where my member name came from....creative, right? I have a 14 yr old daughter Rachael and a 20 yr old step daughter, Liz. I have been overweight most of my life. I remember going to the doctor at 14 years old and being almost 200lbs. My mom was disgusted, she didn't say it but I knew she was. When I was 17 I had school and a full time job, and with little time to snack I lost 70 lbs. I maintained my weight of 150 until I got pregnant when I was 21. I ate for 2, and then some. I gave birth at 220lbs. It took 2 years of diet and exercise and I got my weight down to 130lbs. Maintained that weight until i was 27 and pregnant with my son. I didn't gain as much as my I did with my daughter. I was 180lbs when I left the hospital with my son. In the months following I gained weight. I was diagnosed with post pardum depression and PCOS. I dieted and exercised, I'd loose 10lbs and gain back 15lbs. It's discouraging to do all the work and not get results. My weight climbed up to 255lbs I had a toddler who I couldn't really play with because I couldn't get down on the floor, a 6yr old girl who I couldn't ride bikes with. I was self conscious. Crabby, my back and knees always hurt. I didn't want to go anywhere, I was always dripping with sweat, even sitting still. My clothes consisted of t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants and a pair of jeans. I always made sure there was always ice cream in my freezer and caramel chocolates in my purse.
In April 2014 I ran into a friend who was my size the last time I saw her, she looked great. She lost all the excess weight, and felt great. She told me about the sleeve. That day I started my research and spoke to my husband and told him I wanted to do the sleeve. It was an embarrassing conversation but I'm glad we had it. He agreed to help me out along the way. That day I made my 1st appointment with my surgeon. After 6mo of seeing a dietician and following her diet I lost 8 pounds. Again, discouraging, but if I could loose the weight with diet and exercise (like I had in the past) I wouldn't be getting sleeved. After getting my psych, cardiovascular and pulmonary clearance I was scheduled for surgery 12/30/14. Happy New years!
Surgery went well, but due to the anastasia I was vomiting for 48 hours.
Fast Forward 1 year
Lost 127lbs was size 18/20 pants and now I am size 2
I was 1x or 2x tops, now I'm S or XS
lost a total of 51.5 inches!!

19 months out
I think I'm finally maintaining at 129 pounds.
Still wearing size 2 and small/XS
I love shopping now, I love getting dressed up and looking as good as I feel. I can run around with my kids and dog and not break a sweat. Pre-op I had a migraine 2x a week, now I get them maybe 2x a month, if that. My back and knees no longer hurt. I can squat down and get up easily. I can fit in small places, I can ride all the rides at the amusement park, I can cross my legs comfortably.

Getting birth control removed today!!

by Aydensmomma on 05-29-2020 at 08:55 AM
Hey all!
So about 2 weeks ago I called my doctor and told her the list of problems I have been having since October, when I recieved Nexplanon, which is an IUD placed in the arm. Supposed to good for 5 years, I read some facts they all sounded good. Well, fast forward to right now. I am up 25lbs, and no I haven't changed my diet. And it baffles me because all through the sleeve process it's been calories in vs calories out but somehow I gained 25lbs on 1200-1400 cal a day intake. I have the

Hi everyone!!

by Aydensmomma on 04-09-2020 at 10:11 AM
Wow it is so quiet on this forum!! I've been checking in and reading posts but haven't posted anything in a long time.
I hope everyone is doing well. This coronavirus is no joke. I have heard of the "quarantine 15" where you gain 15lbs because your stuck home. That doesn't have to be the case. I know when I'm bored I tend to want to munch, so I try to keep busy. I paint/decorate bird houses, work in the garden etc. Now I'm a 3rd grade teacher too (my 9th grader doesn't need my help)

It's a great idea to take a picture of yourself the day of your surgery and then using the same clothes and doing the same pose take a pic every 2 weeks. (Or 1 or 4, whatever you want)
Sometimes people say "oh look at you! You lost weight and you look great!" but some of us might not see it because we see ourselves everyday. Comparing pictures is a great way to see the changes, if you ever stall or feel discouraged the pictures might make you feel better.
I also suggest

Hi!
I hope everyone is doing good!
Its great to see so many people taking control of their lives and getting the surgery. One of the best decisions I have ever made. It's been over 4 years now. It's crazy when I go back and think about the beginning. The worst memory's I have were the hair loss, long thick hair turned to thread. The smell, I had such BO, bad breath and stinky pee during ketosis. Deodorant, showers and poo porri handled it. Oh and the irregularity when it came to the

4 years later

by Aydensmomma on 01-08-2019 at 09:02 AM
Wow. 4 years!
It's been way too long since I've been on here so for those of you who don't know me, Hi! I'm Teri. I started the process in May 2014. Luckily all I had to pay for was my nuitrionist. Insurance did the rest.
My BMI was right at 40. I was 255lbs at 5'7"
I went in on December 30th 2014 with the hope of waking up skinny (not really, but it would be nice) instead I had the pleasure of waking up feeling like my stomach was moving around in a painful way and vomiting
