Actually I am down about 30 since surgery, the start weight was my heaviest. Congrats on your progress! I am in the "stall" stage, but my measurements keep coming off, no loss on scale this week, but I lost 2.5 inches.... so I am happy :-)

I am down about 20 pounds and my weight loss has also slowed a little!
  6. Hello, how are you feeling today. I was reading your post, you stated you had 3 weeks of liquid diet.
My doctor has me on 1 week, of liquid dieting. I start the liquid diet on 1-4-2015. I am getting closer to my surgery date.
Your post has been very helpful to me. Thanks for sharing your post.
  7. My surgeons post op plan is 3 weeks full liquid diet, 4th week pureed, 5th week start introducing soft foods. I have a few friends who did this surgery and they didn't vomit and weren't as nauseous, actually someone from the group I was going to had surgery the same morning as me and he was just fine. This is my day right now, soon as I wake up I take the Protonix script, one small pill, helps with the gurgling from the acid. (At the beginning there's a whole Lotta gurgling going on and it's from the acid in the tummy, easily mistaken for hunger pain.) The I have a protien shake, it's good for energy. An hour later I'll have 1/2 cup low fat yogurt, then 30 min later I start a water bottle, half hour after that's done I have 1/2cup lentil soup- takes me at least 30 min to eat. Then I go for more water, protien shake and I'll have literally 3 bites of dinner (mused up with a fork and chewed to death) I was having a hard time telling when I was full and so I would feel terrible, I measure out my yogurt and souP now. I can't believe I'm full after a few bites. But if I keep eating I know it'll come back up. Great job loosing the 15lbs! I lost like 7lbs before surgery. The hospital gives meds for nausea, if it isn't working tell them and they will give you something stronger.

  8. Hi, gee sounds like you had a rough start after surgery. It is a scary thing to think about doing. I don't do nausea and vomiting well at all. I guess each person is different. I have talked to many that had no problems at all. I also read your post to me. I already exercise 3 to 4 times a week at a gym and have for many years. So far I have lost 15 lbs of the 20. I hope I can keep it off till time for I want be able to do my surgery till April. Hopefully I can get more off. How are things going for you now with eating? I think the doctor here keeps us on the protein shake for 2 wks post op before trying anything thicker. I have yet to get all the details. I am still working on the required things have to do.
  9. Hello! On Dec 23rd I had the scope done. I was put to sleep. A camera went down my throat to check and make sure there were no issues. They found a hiatus hernia & gastritis. Both very common and not a problem.
On Dec 30th I had the sleeve surgery. I vomited 4 or 5 times that night. I wasn't able to go home the 31st like planned. The 31st I passed the swallow test and held a little water in but that night I vomited twice, had to stay another night. On New Years Day I was feeling better and was able to drink an 1oz/hour. Slept great that night and was able to go home Friday at noon. I spent the first 2 days relaxing and sleeping. I slept on my back with pleanty of pillows to keep my head up. I was eating broth and jello 1/4cup each. Everyday the pain got better. I had head hunger really bad for the first week but it got better. The 2nd week I tried a thin yogurt 1/4 cup. I measure out the broth/yogurt- I'm not able to tell when I'm full and I don't want to vomit from over eating. 3rd week added in lentil soup & cheese. Made the mistake of eating 1/3 cup of soup and 15min later I drank 8ozof my protien shake, I finished it off in 10min! The next hour I was laid out on the couch feeling terrible, be sure to wait to drink after meals and drink slow.
I went in weighing 250lbs, the day I left the hospital I was 260lbs (water weight from IV)
Yesterday was my 3 week mark and I weighed 229 pounds
good luck to everyone! We can do it!!

About Aydensmomma
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I am a mom, I have an 8 yr old son named Ayden...that's where my member name came from....creative, right? I have a 14 yr old daughter Rachael and a 20 yr old step daughter, Liz. I have been overweight most of my life. I remember going to the doctor at 14 years old and being almost 200lbs. My mom was disgusted, she didn't say it but I knew she was. When I was 17 I had school and a full time job, and with little time to snack I lost 70 lbs. I maintained my weight of 150 until I got pregnant when I was 21. I ate for 2, and then some. I gave birth at 220lbs. It took 2 years of diet and exercise and I got my weight down to 130lbs. Maintained that weight until i was 27 and pregnant with my son. I didn't gain as much as my I did with my daughter. I was 180lbs when I left the hospital with my son. In the months following I gained weight. I was diagnosed with post pardum depression and PCOS. I dieted and exercised, I'd loose 10lbs and gain back 15lbs. It's discouraging to do all the work and not get results. My weight climbed up to 255lbs I had a toddler who I couldn't really play with because I couldn't get down on the floor, a 6yr old girl who I couldn't ride bikes with. I was self conscious. Crabby, my back and knees always hurt. I didn't want to go anywhere, I was always dripping with sweat, even sitting still. My clothes consisted of t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants and a pair of jeans. I always made sure there was always ice cream in my freezer and caramel chocolates in my purse.
In April 2014 I ran into a friend who was my size the last time I saw her, she looked great. She lost all the excess weight, and felt great. She told me about the sleeve. That day I started my research and spoke to my husband and told him I wanted to do the sleeve. It was an embarrassing conversation but I'm glad we had it. He agreed to help me out along the way. That day I made my 1st appointment with my surgeon. After 6mo of seeing a dietician and following her diet I lost 8 pounds. Again, discouraging, but if I could loose the weight with diet and exercise (like I had in the past) I wouldn't be getting sleeved. After getting my psych, cardiovascular and pulmonary clearance I was scheduled for surgery 12/30/14. Happy New years!
Surgery went well, but due to the anastasia I was vomiting for 48 hours.
Fast Forward 1 year
Lost 127lbs was size 18/20 pants and now I am size 2
I was 1x or 2x tops, now I'm S or XS
lost a total of 51.5 inches!!

19 months out
I think I'm finally maintaining at 129 pounds.
Still wearing size 2 and small/XS
I love shopping now, I love getting dressed up and looking as good as I feel. I can run around with my kids and dog and not break a sweat. Pre-op I had a migraine 2x a week, now I get them maybe 2x a month, if that. My back and knees no longer hurt. I can squat down and get up easily. I can fit in small places, I can ride all the rides at the amusement park, I can cross my legs comfortably.

Getting birth control removed today!!

by Aydensmomma on 05-29-2020 at 08:55 AM
Hey all!
So about 2 weeks ago I called my doctor and told her the list of problems I have been having since October, when I recieved Nexplanon, which is an IUD placed in the arm. Supposed to good for 5 years, I read some facts they all sounded good. Well, fast forward to right now. I am up 25lbs, and no I haven't changed my diet. And it baffles me because all through the sleeve process it's been calories in vs calories out but somehow I gained 25lbs on 1200-1400 cal a day intake. I have the

Hi everyone!!

by Aydensmomma on 04-09-2020 at 10:11 AM
Wow it is so quiet on this forum!! I've been checking in and reading posts but haven't posted anything in a long time.
I hope everyone is doing well. This coronavirus is no joke. I have heard of the "quarantine 15" where you gain 15lbs because your stuck home. That doesn't have to be the case. I know when I'm bored I tend to want to munch, so I try to keep busy. I paint/decorate bird houses, work in the garden etc. Now I'm a 3rd grade teacher too (my 9th grader doesn't need my help)

Suggestion

It's a great idea to take a picture of yourself the day of your surgery and then using the same clothes and doing the same pose take a pic every 2 weeks. (Or 1 or 4, whatever you want)
Sometimes people say "oh look at you! You lost weight and you look great!" but some of us might not see it because we see ourselves everyday. Comparing pictures is a great way to see the changes, if you ever stall or feel discouraged the pictures might make you feel better.
I also suggest

Hi!
I hope everyone is doing good!
Its great to see so many people taking control of their lives and getting the surgery. One of the best decisions I have ever made. It's been over 4 years now. It's crazy when I go back and think about the beginning. The worst memory's I have were the hair loss, long thick hair turned to thread. The smell, I had such BO, bad breath and stinky pee during ketosis. Deodorant, showers and poo porri handled it. Oh and the irregularity when it came to the

4 years later

by Aydensmomma on 01-08-2019 at 09:02 AM
Wow. 4 years!
It's been way too long since I've been on here so for those of you who don't know me, Hi! I'm Teri. I started the process in May 2014. Luckily all I had to pay for was my nuitrionist. Insurance did the rest.
My BMI was right at 40. I was 255lbs at 5'7"
I went in on December 30th 2014 with the hope of waking up skinny (not really, but it would be nice) instead I had the pleasure of waking up feeling like my stomach was moving around in a painful way and vomiting
