I've been experimenting with the flavors of Isopure bottled protein drinks. I bought a few at GNC and the Vitamin shop.
Apple Melon reminds me of a watermelon flavored Jolly Ranchers candy. Not crazy about that type of candy, but those I can tolerate it. If need be I can cut with water cause they tend to be a little sweet. Mango Peach is good. I will keep you posted. Oh, I also just had to suck it up and take my bariatric vitamins. I dont chew them, I let them slowly dissolve between my cheek and teeth. Bariatric Fusion vitamins will send you a free sample of different flavors if you call them. Tropical fruit and mixed berry is good.

    Hi,
Iam also very picky with flavors and textures. Bought a bottle of Isopure and can't bring myself to open it. I need to start my post op bariatric chewables and don't want to open that.

I am starting my own pre-op diet, but Dr. Lee only requires a 3 day preop diet. I go tomorrow for my preop appointment so I will find out then what all I can eat and drink over the next to week. They submitted my stuff to insurance on Thursday and I got my approval Friday. Kelly is amazing! My date is set for the 26th. I do have butterflies and I am so excited. I do sleep at night. My biggest fear with all of this is nausea and gas. Please ask question away. I don't mine. MY cell ph number is 724-355-7568. You can always text me too if you need a quicker answer. I am not always on here
  4. Your surgery is right around the corner! I can just imagine the emotions you must be going through. I will anxiously be following your every milestone, and look forward to your updates! I go to the seminar on the 22nd. I have not met Dr lee yet, but I have talked with the nurse at length, she was very kind and informative. Turns out I graduated high school with her, way back in the day! I've been working on researching, reading, and thinking. I am not a person that has ever journaled, but I started that on News Years Eve. It helps to organize my inner thoughts, and placing my feelings outside of me on paper is somehow therapy. I wish to lose a few pounds before surgery, and plan on working to change eating habits prior, so that me and body aren't in such shock. I have lots of time to sort things out, as I have to do the 6 month pre-op checklist. I'm sending my best wishes to you, and look forward to staying in touch!

Hope your New Years is starting off great. I will be having my sleeve done on either Jan 19 or 21st. I am soooo excited and can not wait! So far I have loved the surgeons office. They have been so helpful and Dr. Lee is very kind. Good luck to you.

Meralgia Paresthetica and One Week Update

by Mercy Nurse on 09-06-2015 at 05:37 PM
Happy to report myself in that I (big baby) survived one week post-op! Imagine that.... I mean, I did imagine there times I would not. Seriously.

Good news first? Ok. Since my 3 day liquid diet pre-op and one week liquid diet post-op, I have lost a whooping 20 pounds. 10 days folks. That's some serious huslin'.... errrrr, I mean sufferin'.

Next,
Day 5, I started to feel more normal, moving a little easier, I'd say I was at 75%.

Day 6, was

My Post-Op experience ...

by Mercy Nurse on 09-03-2015 at 07:20 AM
Paying my post-op experience forward, as reading others is the one thing I enjoyed most. - Although now looking back, it is the one thing that I had a higher expectation of... (based on better outcomes) and fell completely short of.

My pre-op day August 31, 2015 was like everyone else explained. I arrived 2 hours early to get my Heparin shot. It indeed burned like gasoline as someone had referenced. The usual prep of IV starting (ask that this placed in your non-dominant arm...

Thoughts and Thanks

by Mercy Nurse on 08-24-2015 at 02:20 PM
As my day to have surgery is vastly approaching (August31), I like everyone else have been planning for this day in what seems like forever. I am thinking of this as my Un-Birthday of sorts - my second chance at life, my time to make it right, a reason to celebrate every year.

I have had plenty of time to reflect, read, educate, listen and learn. And like so many here, just wanted take time to say Thanks. I've often silently checked in when my time permits to read your progress

My Pre-Operative costs...

by Mercy Nurse on 06-02-2015 at 12:36 PM
Things are wrapping up for me as far a pre-operative appointments are concerned. There have been many. I had an EGD, mammogram/annual exam, parathyroid CT, sleep study, nutritionist, psych appt, numerous labs, PCP monthly appts, and surgeon appts.

From the very beginning my eyes have been on the prize at the end. I knew there were appts to be had along the way, but never did I really consider what all the appts would cost. My insurance is new to me within the last year, so I
