Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your expressions of support.

It's been a rough few years, but life is all about change, and in our senior years those changes inevitably include disease and death. We are coming to accept that those things are a part of life, too. And in the meantime, there's so much life for us still to still to enjoy -- and we do!

I wish for you continued great success with your sleeve. I know you've had great results. We are so fortunate to have this opportunity to live healthier and happier, eh?

Wishing the best for us both.

    Ann

    Thank you!
Yes it is a struggle, but I think it is a little bit better now. Iīm home from work with a bad cold and fever so I take the oppurtunaty to rest a lot.
We have to remember that itīs just a few weeks since surgery. At least I seem to forget it beceause Iīve been thinking about this for so long so my brain thinks I did the surgery like six months ago. It is five weeks out tomorrow.
    Take care of you too!

Hi, Iīve been so tired and did not have the energy to log in.
Itīs really been hard. My husband is feeling better now at least, meds seems to be working. But maybe itīs because of that Iīm kind of crashing a little. I really donīt recommend big worries in combination with recovery process. But what can you do, life canīt be tamed.
Now I have to get my possitive energy back but I donīt know how. Because I donīt feel recovered at all. When I eat it feels like I want to throw up. So I donīt get enough of food or liquids and then I get weak. And today I had to start working again. It was not the best for me. Bad 8 hours...
    Sorry for my negativity
How are you? I really hope you are feeling fine!

Thank you and the same to you. Christmas eve was nice but after that itīs been bad. My husband is in hospital for a possible stroke and I feel heartbroken. (I wrote a blogpost just now for more info) Iīm so tired now and must rest al little.....

Congrats on your 20 pound weight loss.

I had my sleeve on 12/8/14; rather close to your surgery date.
I started on pureed foods this week too. A scrambled egg with a dash of parmesan cheese is so good. I really feel with eating more slowly, I am tasting food more than before.
I was bored with chocolate protein powder and have discovered adding cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamon to the mix makes it taste so much better.
Pureed soups with added plain protein powder are good too.

Wishing you the best with your sleeve and hoping you have a healthy 2015.

    Hi,
Day 7 and when I checked my weight just now Iīve lost 20 lbs since the 1 of december. Itīs starting to even show a little bit!
Here the recomendations is not just clear liquids at first but thatīs what I did anyway. Anything thicker felt impossible. But now I can handle mild soup, youghurt and so on. Today I will shop for proteinpowder to get more of that.
We are recommended a certain type of nutritiondrink once a day. It is just packed with protein and energy. But I think my body canīt tolerate them. Yesterday after taking one of theese I got so so sick, like a system shut down. I really felt like I was gonna die! I remember the surgeon told us that you can have a "minidumping" after a sleeve if you eat to fast or something your body canīt handle. Maybe that was it, so Iīm not having that again. That was really expensive so thatīs money waisted.
So today Iīm going slow again. Zipping warm water (feels so much better than cold) and resting. I will take a walk outside to. We have finally got snow so itīs more christmaslike outside. I think I will bring my son and go out in the afternoon checking neighbours decorations glowing in the dark...

Hi, Iīm back on the planet.
I had my suregery late on the 16th so this is my day 4 out. Itīs been really difficult, and Iīm so weak. But I think it will turn today. I have not taken anything for the pain today and Iīm trying to drink more.
    Hope you are fine!

    Thanks!
Today Iīve been to the clinic all day and after that I was invited to the theatre and that took a few hours of my nervous evening. The last as unsleeved.
I will probably be just fine but Iīm worried anyway. Thanks for the advise with the painmeds. No need to be a "hero". I will take what they will give me.
When Iīm on the sleeved side I let you know!

I also had headache during the first two days. Then it went away. Probable lack of energy related. Hope youīre feeling better soon!

I would love to see a profile picture of you! Iīs nice to have a face to go with the words.
I felt brave and even uploaded a before picture but it would not be saved without a after picture?!
So I put a cow there, from the same vacation as the other pictures were taken.

That sounds hard with the sleeping difficulties! I really hope you will be able to sleep for a whole night further on! I read that too little sleep is one factor for putting on weight. Itīs something with hormons that produces during deep sleep. And also is stress one of those factors....
I really tries to feel less stress. Itīs not easy but I think itīs necessary for a happier life.

Great if I can inspire you to deal with the liquid diet. Iīm almost managed a week now. Harder than I expected but I did it so far. So will you of course! Maybe you will find it easy!

Now I will go and read your blog, and subscribe!

It’s been a while::::::

by ReadySet on 02-15-2019 at 06:05 AM
Greetings! It has been a very long time since I have been on this site. My surgery was December 2014 and although I never lost as much weight as most of the people here; my journey thus far (it is never over) has been a success. I started at a weight of 272 and got as low as 190 (for 3 days). I have since gained 30 lbs and am at 220, still striving everyday to get below 200, but its hard. My overall size hasn’t changed much, just a little fluffier!
Here’s the thing, life is REAL and the fact

A year and a half

by ReadySet on 06-10-2016 at 05:38 AM
So I'm officially 18 months into this thing and still very happy I made the decision to sleeve. I didn't get the results I had ultimately hoped for but my life and health remain so much better. For review I started at 270 and got as low at 193 (I was 190 for a few weeks but it didn't last so I don't count it). I am the same weight today that I was at 6 months (203) so a bit disappointing that I can't maintain under 200 but it is what it is. It still blows my mind that I need to buy a large for my

One year ago....

by ReadySet on 12-13-2015 at 07:11 AM
One year ago today i was so grateful that they let me suck on ice chips. It had been a long night after my surgery and my mouth was so dry. I never thought ice chips could taste so good. A year later i am down "officially" at my doctors 76 lbs. I say 80 lbs on my home scale. I have not weighed 190 lbs since 1987 and even when I weighed that much back then I was not wearing the size cloths I am today. Prior to surgery my jeans were 44/46", shirt 2x or 3x depending on style.

Plugging along...

by ReadySet on 11-14-2015 at 06:41 AM
Thought I would share some reflections I've been thinking in the past week as I passed 11 months since my surgery. A year ago this week I was finishing my final tests for surgery in December. Very apprehensive and skeptical. Hoping my decision wasn't going to be a huge mistake. I was nervous that I would be the person who didn't lose weight and that I would be unable to adapt to a new lifestyle. So at 11months out I'm down 77 lbs. I've been a very slow loser the past 5 months and have not reached

Today was an amazing day...

by ReadySet on 09-27-2015 at 08:15 PM
At almost 10 months out from surgery I did something today I never dreamed I would do. I went zip lining and it was amazing. Terrifying, but amazing. I spent the day at at aerial park where you maneuver through courses high in the trees. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done and challenged every rational bone in my body, but I did it. It challenged me beyond my limits (some of the challenges were crazy!!) but I proved to myself I am a changed person even though I still see that fat girl
