Biography:

Hi.My name is Gloria.I am a mom to seven children.Four are grown and gone.God has blessed me with five beautiful grandchildren.
A year ago,I almost lost my life.I thought I had a ear infection,had bad ear pain and went to the E .R.,thinking that they would give me antibiotics,and pain meds,and send me home.Within 20 mins.,of arriving at the hospital,I crashed,they hooked me up to life support,and sent me in for emergency surgery.I had spinal meningitis,encephalitis,and they had to remove my mastoid bone,and a piece of my brain,about the size of a golf ball,to prevent the spread of infection to the rest of my brain.When thy attempted to take me off of life support,I had a heart attack,so I remained on life support,for a while,before they could take me off,and I could breathe on my own.I also got pneumonia.I had to learn how to eat ,and how to walk again.I was already a hundred pounds overweight,and during a year of recovery,gained another fifty.
When you come so close to death,everything changes.I have dealt with being overweight since going through a horrible divorce 27 years ago.I've lost weight many times...but it found me again,and I gained more every time.I am only 48,and have had 2 heart attacks.My doctor,and I believe that this is my only chance at living.I have spent to many years,watching life go by,now I want the chance to live it! My family has missed out on so much,because of my weight.Depression (a lot of it stems from the weight)has crippled me.I thank God,that He has given me strength and courage courage to continue living,when I didn't think I could go on,another day.God isn't rock,my strength and my refuge.I know He has a plan for my life,or I would not be here.Few people survive the illness I had,and I had more complications,than most.Most people don't come out walking,and talking.I am grateful for this opportunity,and will live the rest of my life,ALIVE! May God be glorified.
