Hi Judy, you asked me how my surgery went with Dr. Almanza. I am 5 weeks out today. I had a LapBand removed and gastric sleeve done so I had a tougher procedure and had to have a nasal tube for 2 days. I think Dr. Almanza is amazing. I was worried he would find some reason inside my body that would have prevented him from continuing my surgery but he took care of me and I am so happy I had this done. I wanted to get my LapBand out for some time (had it 10 years) because it wasn't working and I had gained some weight back. I was 225 before surgery and am now 201. Losing slowly but I don't care. Hi Judy.
I had surgery with Dr. Almanza 8 days ago. I can tell you that everything went smoothly. There were 10 of us booked for that day... one of them was a 68 year old woman, who sailed through. (She actually put the rest of us to shame... she was up and about right away with no problems!!!)
You are right to be a little concerned about the plane ride home. It was, by far, the most difficult part of this whole thing for me. Then again, I am from the Toronto area in Canada, so my trip home involved two planes and 12 hours. I picked up some compression stockings before heading down, and wore them home - as a precaution.
I haven't regretted this for a minute. Congratulations on making the decision to do something wonderful for yourself!!!!!

I'm wondering if Dr. Almanza's hospital is JCI accredited? Is that right? JCI?

Are you having surgery with Dr Almanza? I had surgery this last July with him.

I'm getting excited since my husband and I made the decision that I will take this journey in the months to follow. I will be impatient of course. I am so hopeful that this will give me a better quality of life than I have had the past few years due to health problems. I had my 65th birthday yesterday and I want the remainder of my life to be better, I want to be more mobile, and energetic.
