    Hi Glynis,
I know you haven't been here for awhile and I hope you are doing so well that you've been able to forget about the surgery and enjoy life! Is that seriously you in the pretty pink shirt? Hard to believe you are the same person as the glamourpuss in your avatar.
I live up in the NT. Just thought I'd say hello and wish you all the best. I haven't had surgery yet (waiting til Feb next year) so reading your notes here helps me psychologically prepare..
I have sleep apnoea too. Did yours improve after your sleeve?
Warm wishes from the Red Centre,
    Nel
  2. Cogratulation you look amazing ana I bet you feel it too! Keep up the good work..
  3. Thanx girls for your messages. I am doing excellent. Home from hospital day 4 post op. Spent one night in ICU as a precaution as I also have sleep apnoea but all went fine. I have no complaints at all. A little tender but meds take care of that. I actually have gained weight, but assume that is just fluid retention. I have a huge haematoma on my belly but that is reducing and will go in 4-6 weeks..... I have no complaints, only WHY DID I NOT DO THIS EARLIER. I praise my whole team, they were wonderful and I am keeping myself somewhat active but also enjoying a slow day today. My partner is so supportive as are all my family friends, I truly am blessed to be on this adventure and am looking forward to the next 12 months of a healthier life and new me! I already had a bucket list now I am just adding more and more to it for new things to do!

Hope all went well, love the pic! I'm sure you'll be in for "the ride of your life"! I too suffered from Diabetes, hypertension and was heavy for most of my life, in fact, all of my life and I'm 61 now. Had the sleeve 6 weeks ago and have already lost 54 lbs. I exercise daily and am still having some acid reflux, heartburn and nuseau, however; it's all going to be woth it in the long-run. It already is, I'm off the hypertension meds, insulin is down from 80 units nightly to 10 units and I'm hoping once I see my primary, that will be the last of the insulin. Going for blood work and a 2nd appt with the surgeon who is quite impressed with my progress. I walked the minute I got to my room after recovery and never stopped even after I left the hospital. Took 10 days off from work and have been working since then. Please let me know how you're doing when you can. Good Luck!!
  6. Today I have my sleeve, feeling ok, but a tad concerned about possible post op complications, and I just put this down to anxiety of the moment. I have been blessed with a wonderful team around me, all looking out for my best interests. I really am looking forward to that downward spiral on the scale.... this is an exciting adventure...... Hasta la vista

Hope everything goes well tomorrow, congrats!
  8. I start my preop diet tomorrow. Three weeks of Optifast x 5 per day and two cups of vegetables! The thought of it certainly doesn't sound that great but my weight has now created a multitude of health issues and I want to be healthy, therefor my focus is to do as the Doctor and dietician have requested. I am sure there will be temptations and struggles, but I am trying to keep focus that this period is only a short period in my overall lifetime and I will do it. Change is hard, but if you keep doing what you have always been doing, you will only ever have the same result you have always had. Your team looking after you are professionals who know what they are doing, believe in them and follow their guide.
  9. Yuck, diagnosed this past week with sleep apnea, therefore I need to return to hospital for a further sleep study and set up for a machine prior to my surgery. I am confident the sleep apnea will cease following my surgery, it will only be a matter of time, together with the diabetes, hypertension and aches and pains.... This is a journey and one I am looking forward to..... 24 more sleeps till my surgery.
  10. Hi everyone! I signed on last week and it was 45 days till my surgery, tonight I was surprised it is only 34 more sleeps.... time is passing without realizing. I am having my sleeve in Melbourne, Australia. I start my preop diet on July 6th for three weeks. Although the doctor only suggested 2 meal replacements per day the dietician worked out on her 'program' five meal replacements a day, so I will go with that an my veggie intake. I have been overweight since puberty and I am over it. I now have diabetes, hypertension and the weight is starting to affect my joints. I am done. I have a great medical team around me and a great supportive team of friends and family. Looking forward to the changes and challenges ahead. I look at this as a journey, just like all my travels overseas, just a different kind of journey.
