Thank you! I like to think I'm a mostly positive person, I have my moments though . I can't believe it is coming up so fast! You can do almost anything you set your mind to with some work and determination. We are taking bets in my family and at work for how much I will lose on my pre-op diet makes it fun. Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to you.

Hi Joan, Hope you are well. The insicions are about one inch except for he one on the left side where the stomach is removed, it is a bit larger. My clinic took care of all med. needs/supplies. The left cut took me a bit longer to heal, just keep them clean. One thing I just remembered, flying home I wore loose clothing and no bra, much more comfy. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season up there in wonderland. Joanne

I was off for about 2 weeks. I did my walking around the house until I was sure I could go outside and walk without feeling light headed. That was about a week. I am still using the CPAP but I will be retested in a few months. I have lost 59 lbs but the Dr wants me to lose more before testing. Good luck.
  5. Thanks so much for all the info, u have done very well,& look great. I would like to keep in touch.

Hi Joan, I was 70 when I had surg. Flew solo return. Surg. went well, felt crappy for a few days but better every day. Flying home I just made sure that I moved my feet ankles in circles and back and forth. Made the walk to bathroom even when I didn't need to and drank lots of water. I knew I needed energy and couldn't eat so I bought some very dark chocolate and sucked on that. I also had a latte at the airport and that kept me going, lucky it did not bother my tummy.

When I arrived home I felt very tired of course so took meds and slept and rested for a few days. Bit uncomfortable lying down so if you don't have a reclining chair it helped me to sleep on my side with a pillow supporting my gut. The stitches will need to be removed (this can be done at home being careful about infection. Might be good to get some antibiotics before leaving home or from surg. just in case wounds get any infection. This can happen and is easy to clear. I washed my wounds with warm salty water and worked great. Make sure you have a thermometer to keep track. Otherwise drink your water, get nourishment as recommended and rest. Be patient and you will feel better soon. Be nice to be in a warm climate and you can get out for walks. 1 more thing, start walking right after surg, best you can, this really helps the gas and clots. Good luck. Stay in touch if you like. Joanne ps I live 1 hour north of TO. I used to live in Elliot Lake.
  7. I'm in Timmins ontario. I'm gong with Dr Orildgo pv,Mexico. I'm going either the end of January or the first of February as long as my tests from the cardiologist come back ok. I had a heart attack in 2008 & have hardening of the arteries. I had some tests today & will find out the results next Wednesday. I'm nervous to have the surgery, I'm 60 years old & not in good shape. We will b spending some of the winter in Arizona,& that's where I wil come back to recuperate. I feel a little nervous about that because I have no health insurance in the USA for that. My hubbie said if I don feel well he will fly me home. I'm glad u r doing well & hope things stay that way. How old r u. I would like u to keep me informed about your progress. Take care.

hello I just wanted to say that i had a great time there were no problems. Dr was good you did not see Dr. Almanza but the day of surgery but he talked to all of us one to one then in group we had ten people that had surgery that day. the hospital was very clean i think they cleaned are room at least six time in one day. the hotel was very nice 4 stare very clean. Dr at hotel was very good too. great nurses at hotel and hospital. I took my sister with me and she was a lot of help. You dont get to much one on one care at hospital unless you are having problems which i didn't I prayed a lot and all was good no pain what so ever only getting in and out of bed the first two days. did a lot of shopping and had a wonderful time i would do it again if I had to. My brother is going next month. good luck and fill free to ask me anything else.

I was sleeved January 31 and my hw was 242....sw231.....cw198....lost 44 pounds so far

I'm losing slowly but my Dr from Mexico thinks that better and he calls me to make sure things are going well

I had to take the clothes out of my closest because they were to big for me,I'm now in a size 14-16.

I read the posts daily and get encouragement from them, hope you are all doing well.

Well I went to my family doctor yesterday and got weighed for the first time since surgery on January 31/15. I have lost 23 pounds in just about eight weeks, I'm not very happy with that but what an I do ? I have stayed on the program, never had anything I was not supposed to , measured my food, drank 30 after meal and stopped 30 before. I got 70-94 grams of protein in a day, and drank my liquids. If you see anywhere I'm going wrong please tell me. I lost 11 pounds on the pre op diet. My starting

by Joan3 on 03-11-2015 at 10:24 PM
Just thought I check in, I will be 6 weeks Saturday since my sleeve was done and even though I hard a rough few weeks at the beginning things are going well now. I'm on soft foods and I found I can eat just about anything that they have on the diet except scramble eggs. I'm walking about 1/2 mile a day and soon will start to do some weights. I don't know how much weight I've lost because I'm waiting till I go to the dr on the 25th to be weighted. I'm really glad I did this , I've never had the moment

Can I take this ?

by Joan3 on 02-21-2015 at 02:45 PM
I had my sleeve done january 31 in Mexico. I was wondering if any of you with arthritis is taking the drug meloxicam. It's a NSAIDs, so there is a difference of opinions and the nearest baractic centre is 500 miles from me, but my hips are in a lot of pain ,so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
