Hey Gail, how are you? You will loose at least 50 lbs. I started off at 196 and I am now 144. My weight dropped slowly because I wasn't that much overweight, and it will probably be the same with you. Please let me know what you decide and how you're doing.
  2. Gail I think that your doing just what you should..... Start you life all over TODAY! Congrats on the determantion for you new journey!
  3. Well the journey began on Wednesday evening, since I had a band to remove before the sleeve. By 7:30 the next morning the van was taking us back to the hotel, only to have to wait in the lobby about 4.5 hrs until ours rooms were available. (Truth!). Because I was coming home on Saturday, my drain tube was removed on Friday evening, have had a lot of leakage after getting home. Today is day 6 from surgery, I'm tired of broth and not getting to drive so im hoping tomorrow is a better day! Sitting around just isn't my thing!

I hope your surgery was a success today! Now you and your roommate will need to refrain from laughing as much so you don't experience any extra pain. That will be my biggest struggle as I love to laugh and make other people laugh. its what keeps me going. Get some rest and I look forward to hearing more about your experience.

i cant believe its only a wk away its so close now i am getting a bit sick of soup and salads id love an egg or some seafood but my diet is very strict compared to allot of others my weight is sadly over 350lbs so i spose my doctor is wanting me to lose as much as i can
i am sticking to the diet as sad as it is as i know its only short term.
the worst has been the headaches at night and first thing on waking in the am.
Did you get headaches? anything i can do other than panadol to help ease them? i imagine its the detox working

We should definately look each other up. Keep in touch and let us know how your doing! Best of luck, sounds like your all prepared. Remember walk, walk, walk after surgery!

Gail, I agree 100% with Brandi's list of things to take. The only thing I would leave out is the sippy cup. The doctor did not want us to use those because while we have the drain in it can cause more pressure. Yes, my friends mom had Dr Almanza. She is doing better now and is recovering very well. It was a very hard 5 months for her. The last I heard from my friend is she is doing much better and they expect a full recovery.

Gail, you will meet people there. Make a point of finding someone you want to hang with and you will see everyone who goes through this process sticks together. I met three ladies there and I still keep in touch with them. They will become friends for life. I wish I could go with you but I am sure you will do fantastic!! You are in my thoughts and prayers. You can text me if you have any questions. 971-645-5334 Best of luck.
  12. Thanks Brandi, I will definitely be watching for your post! Please report for any things to watch out for with safety! Thanks a mil and Good Luck!

Hi Gail, my surgery is the 16th, so I'll be headed out as you are coming in. I do plan to post about my experience, so be sure to look for it. The only suggestions I have are a list of things to bring with you and start you diet a little before the prescribed 3 days, a couple of people believes it helps with nausea, etc.

    My packing list:

Gas X Strips (not the pills).

A heating pad: Pack your heating pad where it can be easily accessed after surgery.

An extra long extension cord for your heating pad just in case you need it.

    Lip balm or chap-stick.

    Sunglasses.

Slippers to wear around the hospital.

    Warm socks.

Loose fitting clothing (shorts, t-shirt and comfortable pants).

Baby sippy cup: Assists in your post op liquid diet.

Hibiclens: This is a popular skin cleanser to bathe with before surgery and for the first week after. Your local drugstore may have it or something similar, if not, search for a small bottle of it at eBay.com

Alcohol swabs or lotion: to use to take the adhesive off your skin.

Steri-strips (butterfly stitches) - keep them at home for when your stitches are removed, apply them for a few extra days.

Pill crusher to assist with taking medicines on your journey home and/or after you get home.

Perhaps a couple of flavors of bouillon cubes in case you might want them for the day you are traveling home and after you get home.

    I hope this helps!

Surgery tomorrow

by Gail2 on 10-21-2014 at 10:08 PM
Well, I made it to Tijuana and much to my surprise, I've not been at all scared of what I've seen! I came alone and have meet another single traveler that turned out to be my roommate, couldn't have picked a better one if I'd done the choosing myself! Tomorrow is our big day, we have eaten the chicken broth, walked the front street, bought some jewelery and laughed our rears off! (Of course according to my daughter, if that's all it took, we wouldn't need to be here for surgery! The time difference

Tijuana here I come!

by Gail2 on 10-15-2014 at 12:31 PM
I'm headed to TJ on the 21 (next Tuesday) and returning on the 27th, anyone on that time frame? I would love to be able to look someone up and have someone that I could hang out with during my stay. (needless to say, no matter how old you are, your Mothers still worry about a trip to Mexico alone!) So I was thinking that if I told her I was meeting someone there, it might lighten her load! With that said, I await a response!
