Congrats on your progress. How are you coming along. At 2.5 years out, I'm finding the hardest part is maintaining but I continue to work hard. I can now eat more at least a small saucer of food. I have to strive to make good choices. I've worked too hard to get to this point. Just sending you words of encouragement. I tell myself that eating the junk food does not make me nearly as happy as being healthy feels.

Good luck on your journey im sure you have worked real hard too. Best of luck on your success

Oh I'm doing well. I officially got on full liquids yesterday but I'm still not really hungry. I'm getting around just fine, shopping, movies. I can't complain. How about you?

Thank you so much for our comment. It has been a wonderful journey. I see that you have not had your surgery yet. Are you nervous? If you have any questions just let me know and I will certainly help with anything I can. I'm getting ready to have a tummy tuck in March, pretty excited about that.

    Hi Niki,

I could go on and on about how great my whole experience was with Dr. Rodriguez and everybody I dealt with for my surgery. I have nothing but positive things to say, and if you have any specific questions about anything I'd be happy to answer them.

Going great! Still a chore to get in all my water and protein but it is getting much better. No pain, no nausea, getting my energy back. Went back to work yesterday and was not too bad! How are you coming along?

Yes I chose Dr Alvarez. My insurance doesn't cover WLS so it was self pay for me. The cost was $8500. They require $1000 when you book your surgery date and balance when you arrive the day of. It must be certified check or a money order. I traveled by myself and did perfectly fine on my own. The only thing that was a turn off, not even an issue really, was the drive from San Antonio to Eagle PassTX. Perhaps even more so after the surgery, the drive from Mexico back to San Antonio. It's over two hours in the van with the driver. That was the worst part and honestly, it wasn't all that bad. Maybe if you have a companion it would be a bit easier. The procedure was uneventful. I have no other medical conditions so that helps both pre/post op. Dr Alvarez is wonderful. I felt like I knew him from watching all his Youtube videos (which I highly recommend) he listens, is very kind and friendly. Dr has 2 nurses on staff and they speak English. Dr's coordinator Susan is extremely helpful, easy to contact and a pleasure to work with. If you ultimately decide to use Dr Alvarez, you will not regret it. If you have any other questions/concerns, please just ask. I'd be happy to share my experience with you (and please share yours too) Hope your husband is doing better today as every day gets a little easier. It's great that you get to experience recovery first hand, but we all recover differently, so keep that in mind too ; )
All the best to you both! Happy New Year!

Hi Niki - I can't tell you enough just how awesome Dr. Snyder, his team, and Rose Medical Center was!!! I highly, highly, highly recommend him/them. They absolutely know what they're doing, have a proven process for getting patients prepared and through the surgery. They do NOT treat you as just another case on a conveyer belt. They truly look at each person's health and individual needs and address what needs to be done so you can safely get through this surgery. My husband and I had both planned on doing the surgery in 2014, but they found that my husband had additional medical issues that had to be addressed before he could have the surgery. Our fingers are crossed that he gets it in 2015. You and your husband are in phenomenal hands. Best of luck to you both on this journey!!!
