Im so impressed with your story of 5 years out from surgery im currently 4 or 5 months pre op and am on a milk diet , have you any advice for me about avoiding weight gain ??
  6. 4 years have gone by and still no weight gain. I am excited to share this to give others encouragement when they get down. I am so happy to say my son has lost 85 pounds since July when he also had the sleeve surgery.
I still struggle with taking my supplements and getting enough protein each day. But overall I would do the surgery again. I encourage anyone who is thinking about having this surgery to go for it! It's truly life changing in a good way!

  8. 3 years post surgery.... Would like all my visitors to know.. Zero weight gain I am thrilled as I continue my journey and hope others feel the same way. I don't get on this forum much as my life has changed and I am working more but I will continue to keep updated so others will see how awesome the sleeve procedure is.

Thanks for your message. I am doing much better. Basically according to my surgeon's scale I have gone from 100.8 kilo to 90.0 kilo and I am nearly four weeks out. She says this is very good. I too have difficulty getting my water in. I manage minimum a litre a day but should be drinking another half to meet the requirement. I am now on soft foods and introducing regular foods in addition to fresh veggies and fruits (minus skins for another week). I had my surgery in Israel and the protocols are very different here to say the least. They don't want to hear about protein shakes at all! They want me to eat food. I was discouraged that the weight loss had stalled but I am learning that this is part of the deal. I also feel that I have been these numbers before and until I reach numbers I haven't seen in years only then will I get excited. Crazy as that sounds! Anyway, thanks again for writing. This is a great support for all who have VSG.

Hi there. I wrote you this long response but sent it to myself by accident! Second time I have made that mistake, so frustrating. Anyway, I am taking a liquid multi vitamin, liquid B12 (my B12 was low prior to surgery so I was told to take it and continue to take it) I also take liquid calcium. At one month (two weeks from now) I was told to start taking Biotin and Zinc to prevent hair thinning/loss. I have begun soft foods but it is far from easy. I hope and pray it gets easier. I have lost some weight but I think because the numbers are so familiar (ie. been here before) I am not significantly impressed. When I reach a number I haven't seen in a long time, maybe then I will be impressed. I guess the biggest bonus has been not feeling hunger and not feeling any craving and not thinking about food 24/7. In fact I have to force myself to eat really. I could go for hours without eating but have to remind myself not to do that. I just hope it all gets easier and that I start to feel normal again. Thanks for writing.

hi ssmith9994, I was wondering how tall are you? How long did it take you to get to your goal weight? I am just starting out and still on liquids and looking forward to soft foods at the end of the week. How is life with the sleeve?

  14. i am not sure what infomercials would have to do with juiceplus? ive never seen that on TV? haha
i actually started taking if after my bariatric doctor recommended it to me. after learning so much about the benefits i became a distributor. both my pediatric office and dental office also sell it. jdecker id just say do your research. You will for sure need to be taking supplement once you have your surgery. both of my parents are surgeons and they fully recommend it to their patients as well.

janie - i do not like the "automatic ship" on anything, especially infomercials. the worst company whatsoever is, "guthy renker". they are known for poor customer service and it takes a year or so to have your order returned and credits received re: credit cards. at walgreen's, cvs or walmart try "alive" vitamins. it's the same thing as juiceplus, but u can purchase @ your own will. the alive vitamins have 13 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. hope u find this as some help for you.

    kindest regards..

5 years post op still doing awesome! don't get discouraged....

by ssmith9994 on 04-21-2014 at 11:13 AM
i periodically get on gastric sleeve and read blogs on how scared so many people are of the future and if they are going to gain back all the weight. everyones lifestyles are different but i will tell you my cravings have changed over the years and i don't so much care for all the junk. If i eat a handful of hot cheetoes i don't beat myself up about it. while i can only eat a couple of handfuls most people can devour the whole bag. lol....it took my body about a year to realize hey you can't

Foamy protein shakes ??

by ssmith9994 on 08-15-2013 at 09:35 AM
I am trying to figure out how to make a protein shake without half of it being so foamy I have used dozens of different proteins, with or without fruit in magic bullet. If I let it sit it melts and separates and really looks gross have been on a few websites but really didn't get any help other than saying freeze it
Any ideas? Wish there was a product to add to shake to help this issue

3 years post op :)

by ssmith9994 on 11-11-2012 at 07:28 PM
For those who wonder what will it be like in 3 years I'm here to say I have not gained a pound. I hit a plateau after my first year and half but I am happy to report I'm still wearing my size 6 jeans . I eat what I want but still in small portions and never touch sodas!! I am still chewing my Juiceplus daily. I do not get on this forum much but I will continue to keep everyone updated on my progress. Everyone always has the question... Will I gain my weight back.??? Or will your new stomach stretch??

vitamins and nutrition ;) TRY JUICE PLUS CHEWABLES

by ssmith9994 on 06-02-2011 at 10:24 PM
i went for my yearly checkup today and i seem to be doing just awesome...i have had no hair or energy loss.i had lapband removed and gastric sleeve 11/2009 and have gone from size 18 to 6.
i truly believe it is because of my daily ritual of vitamins. my dr told me last year to start taking the gummy prenatal vitamins (you can get at walmart) and to continue with my juice plus gummies. i truly believe this is key to keeping the skin and hair looking awesome. i believed in juice plus so
