My surgery is tomorrow , i wish it had been today . I am so ready to get it over with an get started on my recovery. Thanks for the good luck wishes.
  2. Thanks so much for checking on me. I have eaten a lot of jell-o today! Tomorrow will be hard but I start traveling on Thursday and am hoping it will be easier then. I'm home now making dinner for the boys. Not fun! So, you are feeling great? That's good. I think my biggest fear is a post-op complication. I need to find a doctor around here that will see me afterward just as a follow up. I have a really good PCP so she might do.
  3. I leave on Thursday! I can't wait. I have two sons ages 6 and twelve and I'm looking forward to some alone time! I know that there is going to be a time or two that I feel very lonely and pitiful but I hope it doesn't last long. I'm trying to eat according to my pre-op diet but I am failing miserably. Did you follow the pre-op to a T? I am supposed to start all liquids on Tuesday. I am planning on going ahead and starting them tomorrow.

Good for you, Milly. It's hard to understand how, after surgery when you feel so strange and weird and bad, that you could feel better in a matter of just a few weeks or even days. I'm so glad you've turned a corner. I'm only 6 weeks and 3 days post-op, and I'm still experiencing both phenomena: things are changing all the time and becoming more normal. What a trip, eh?

Hello to you!! I am doing very well, thank you.

I love to share any knowledge I can even though I am only three months sleeved myself. Please don't hesitate to ask questions and I am glad I was able to encourage you.

    Hi Milly
Try extremes..hot broth or ice cold drinks. I couldn't drink room temperature. Good for you for the weight loss!
It will take our stomach time to heal. Yes I am having major head hunger too. The only difference is that if I eat I will
get deathly ill.So it is easier to ignore than normal.
    Keep in touch

  7. Milly, my surgery is on Oct. 10th! I'm so excited! I am hoping that this is going to be the piece of the puzzle that I have been missing in my life. Once my surgery is over I hope to be making regular posts letting people know how I'm doing because I absolutely love reading about everyone's experiences!
  8. Hey Terrie!! I wrote an essay on response to you and lost it! Boooo!! Anyway my bmi is 30.6 I think now. Was 31.5. I'm 171cm. I can't believe I've gotten to this weight to be honest.....just like you I have worked so hard to keep myself in the healthy weight range mostly through sports and activity....then life happened, complicated pregnancy with bed rest followed by major life stresses which graduated into major depression......I feel like I've woken up from a coma after weaning off some heavy antidepressants....like you I can lose weight but can't maintain it and keep gaining weight now and I'm exhausted trying to mange it and fear it's only a matter of time before I have a much bigger problem on my hands! I'm starving all the time too and always thinking about food.....sick of food /weight dominating my life!! I have just learnt to ski myself this season in NZ!! I absolutely loved it and have progresses so far already so I'm excited to think when my weight is down how much better I'll be......I've just started having problems too with my knee and ankle and injuring myself.....anyway that's a bit about me. I'm happy I've made this choice and so lucky in Australia that private health insurance covers you if your surgeon is happy to operate....no questions. I would have come to Mexico if not and it seems like there are some great surgeons there too! my surgery is booked for Tuesday! Im Nervous tonight! How r u??

    Hi
What is your BMI? I know what you mean, it seems barbaric...having a good chunk of the stomach cut out. I know that if I ever got enough motivation again I could lose the 55 or so pounds I want to lose. But I also know that as soon as I would hit my goal it would come right back on. THAT is what keeps me from being motivated to diet,,the thought is exhausting as well as the disappointment. I am looking for a long term solution, that will help me forever. Regain with diets is 95% , with the sleeve it is 20%. I think us slimmer (ha ha) people on here have a better shot at keeping it off. I have exercised and kept fit all my life. It is only since May when I got so big I just gave up on running. I am also an avid skier. So I am hoping I will not regain and I am going to be determined. I have always said that before so I say this with doubt,,but once I get going I will probably be more sure.
YOu are so fortunate to get the surgery paid for! Do you have a date set?
I know what you mean about mind playing tricks. I FEEL ok,,then I see a mirror!! Ugh!
    Anyways keep in touch
    Terrie

5 weeks post op

by Milly2shoes on 10-27-2014 at 11:45 PM
So things have settled down so much the past 2 weeks and every day I feel better and more 'normal'.
I am able to try more foods now so this has made life much easier as I was sick of protein shakes and drinks. I wanted something to bite!!! I feel like mentally I am strong now. I remember back to day 5-10 post op battling with head hunger alot!!! I still crave certain foods but have been having a bite or taste of them and fnding they don't taste as good as I use to think hahaha I think getting

by Milly2shoes on 10-05-2014 at 03:01 AM
Heaviest 97kg
Spent 18mths to get weight down to 91kg but then injury and within a week weight was 94kg gradually came down to 91kg....only lost 1kg on preop but had so much trouble following the plan I am ashamed to admit. I didn't eat terribly at all and calories were low but added few things in here and there that weren't on plan....

Anyway

Day of op 90kg (198 pounds)

Today 82kg(180poumds) Woo!

So that's an 8kg loss in 12 days

12 days post op

by Milly2shoes on 10-05-2014 at 02:50 AM
Hello!
So I flew home on Friday (day 10 post op) and it felt great to be home! The flight was only 3 hrs but because it was international it was a big day still.
I was so lucky and by chance got a whole row to myself on the plane, which meant I could put my feet up!
I know some people fly a few days after but i wouldn't have felt ready as I took a good week to feel reasonable.
The first day home after flying I felt like I took a step backwards and was prett tired and

by Milly2shoes on 10-01-2014 at 11:45 PM
So I had my post op appt with the surgeon today and he was very happy so that's good! I am flying home tomorrow YAHHhhh!! I miss my son sooooo bad hahaha I think I'll feel better once I am home too. I've checked in at airport hotel and just chilling out now.
So each day I have felt a little better than they day before. Less tenderness and more energy. I still need a little rest/lie down if I do too much or walk to much in my case ATM.
I can't get much in still but a little more at

by Milly2shoes on 09-30-2014 at 07:24 PM
Hi!! I am 8 days post op now....today i finally feel like I am coming good. It has been a slow recovery for me and i certainly wasnt beaming with energy or tolerating much at all. I found last night i finally could drink a little more without any discomfort or pain! YAH!!! so frustrating having 2 sips of a clear soup and then being over it. I have wasted so much money too because I am staying in a hotel while I recouperate in Sydney (I live in New Zealand) and have to buy everything (and no kitchen
