  1. How are you doing with your surgery behind you now? I live on the Gulf coast as well. You had the same fears that most of us had. My surgery was in 2011 but I remember being unsure. Now I'm trying to get back to my first weight loss goal. I didn't do anything for physical exercise and my weight kept back on...not all of it but half...it's a lifelong change but well worth it. My sleep apnea is gone ( I slept with a bi-pap machine) and my asthma disappeared. The surgery is a life saver!
  2. Good morning my fellow sleevers and future sleevers. My anxiety has been calmed and I will be heading to the hospital in four hours. I think it helped that I cleaned out two closets last night and tried to do any last heavy lifting needed since it will be off limits very soon. The word "nesting" came to mind while organizing the closet chaos and cleaning the two rooms. Getting the home ready for a big change to reduce or eliminate any surprises. I hope I have the right protein powders, protein drinks, vitamins that will agree with me after the surgery. My husband is amazing, so supportive even though he does not really agree with the surgery for the risk I am taking. He does see the benefits and hopes like I do that it eliminates my sleep apnea, high blood pressure and knee pain. I will pray for complication-free surgeries for my fellow sleevers and really fast healing. And may nauseau and reflux never appear. Amen
  3. My surgery is scheduled for this wed dec 10th and am having 2nd thoughts. One question I want to ask sleevers is ...Will I forever be drinking sips, sips, sips throughout my day for the rest of my life? Is there a time where I don't have to drink constantly or eat protein every 2 hours so I don't get nauseated? The last three weeks I have been eating like I used to when I lost 45 lbs, but I could not lose too much so I could be approved for surgery. so I went from 218 (1st appt with surgeon in Aug.) to 210 (today) and am thinking maybe I can try one more time doing it "on my own" without surgery. I worry about being nauseated, having reflux (I don't have it now), and getting dehydrated (I drink water now but not the amount that is needed post-surgery). I would appreciate any advice this experienced group of people can give.

Trying out a new excercise program tomorrow at a martial arts place

by skinner46 on 01-15-2015 at 12:29 PM
I got a mailer the other day for an adult fitness program at a local martial arts and fitness center. It's a short term contract of 4 months. "Our program revolves around cardio kickboxing, training with bags, weights, ropes and bands. A well rounded system that will leave you drenched in sweat and burning fat for hours." So I am going in tomorrow night for the tone and sculpt part of it and see how I like it. I am very excited and have to clear with my doctor about the core exercises.

Feeling better since starting soft foods

by skinner46 on 12-27-2014 at 08:58 PM
Such an attitude adjustment I had once I started eating soft foods. I feel normal again, with a few adjustments. I ditched the awful protein drinks and whey shots that had artifical sweeteners/food colorings/GMO corn and soy. It dawned on me how those could not help my stomach heal if I was keeping my tissues and cells in an inflammatory state. Those two weeks post-op are tough when you are focused on getting protein and water. And I am still finding it difficult to get in the 64 oz of water

one week post-sleeve and had a pity party yesterday

by skinner46 on 12-17-2014 at 07:35 AM
The reason for the "party" was that I ruined a perfectly good operational stomach that was not diseased and it did not deserve the mutilation I willingly subjected it to. I asked G-d to forgive me for doing this to His perfect design and just cried.
I need to say how frustrating it is to get a decent tasting source of protein (it is not cheap to keep trying different powders & drinks), to remember to drink every 15 minutes and how I worry about my dehydration and lack of

Sleeved dec 10th and got home friday the 12th.

by skinner46 on 12-12-2014 at 07:01 PM
I had the sleeve surgery wednesday the 10th, and left the hospital today. i was kept one extra night for problems with nausea and pain. I am not a big fan of morphine-based pain relievers, the extra day I only pushed the pump button once in the morning but was dragging all day and not getting up much except to potty. I wished I had purchased a maternity support belt. I have a wrap they use and it is much too tight. so i asked my nurse if she could bring a bigger size, so she did (it will be
