My BMI right now is 38 (the end of Feb 2014 it was 48).
I have obstructive sleep apnea, higher BP, Type-2 diabetes (220, just a little over the diabetic level of 200+) & higher cholesterol.
I haven't been snoring as much, my BP is running high-normal, my glucose #'s are running much lower (I need to see what happens when I am not on a full liquid diet). I am only seeing positive results by losing weight.
  2. You are right I got to stay focused no matter who doesn't support me!
  3. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the friendship. I am glad you have decided to take charge of this aspect of life. Thank you for your dedication as a social worker. It is often a thankless job yet so important in so many lives. Judging from the wall behind you many people have been touched!
  9. Thanks...and I'll do the same for you...

  11. Hey!,
No...so far the only requirements were a 3 year weight history, a recommendation letter from my PCP, and a DC of HBP, Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, etc....My DX is Osteoarthritis, and a psych eval.

    Hi Monasongbird_4!!
Thank you so much for reaching out. I really appreciate it. Especially, since we have about the same height & weight. I wish you luck in this journey too. Congrats on getting the insurance company to cover it 100%
I signed up to this site a few months ago, but I was to chicken to post anything
Most likely, I will have to find a PCP, I've been thinking about it for a while now.
After my consult with the WLS, I had to get a blood test to see where I was vitamins wise, and they found out my Vit. D was very low for this procedure, and gave me a RX for vit. D.

Question, did your insurance require you to go on a diet to lose 10lbs before they would cover the cost?

Hello everyone!!!
I just wanted to share my excitement for life! My decision to have the VSG procedure began a few months ago late one night while searching on internet for weight loss supplements. I thought to myself, “You can keep taking pills to lose weight, but how long does that does?” I am 38, married, with three out of four kids that are active in every sport possible. I have tried every diet possible as far back as the “Cabbage soup diet” …lol! But needless to say once I made up my mind to make my first appointment with my surgeon and found out that my insurance covers the procedure 100%..... It was final……. There no turning back now.
