Hello Lovelyladylasvegas, I went to Tijuana on 4/24/2014 to get the sleeve. It is good to connect with someone in Vegas to communicate with. Hopefully, all is well with you. I enjoyed every minute of my Mexico experience and they took good care of me. I appreciate the fact that they send you home with an Ultrasound of your new tummy. I just wanted to give you an update on my situation. I went to Tijuana to have a lapband revision to a sleeve on 4/23/14. Sadly, Dr. Almanza was only able to remove my lapband and not complete the sleeve due to excessive damage to my stomach from the lapband. Apparently my stomach was perforated and "ugly" as he called it and he said that my lapband was trying to kill me. I am able to return at the end of July to have the sleeve done. I was extremely pleased with the care that I received at the hospital and with Dr. Almanza's skills as a surgeon. My only complaint is that I sat in the hospital for 18 hours thinking I had the band removed and the sleeve done before Dr. Almanza came in to tell me that he was unable to do the sleeve. However, that complaint is so minimal when I compare it to my gratitude for his skill as a surgeon and for saving my life at such a reasonable price. I completely trust him as a surgeon and I trust that the decision he made to have me wait the 3 months before doing the sleeve was the appropriate decision and was what was best for my health. His office even refunded me $1200 because he was unable to do the sleeve at that time. In my opinion, his business ethic is as wonderful as his medical ethic and equals his surgical skill level. I'm feeling grateful today. Thanks for listening.

Oh yeah, the tube is awful! It feels like you swallowed a straw! But, remember that it's only for a short while. I had the surgery at about 5 pm and they took it out at 1 pm the next day. There is a spray that can numb the back of your throat but I would bring some Chloraseptic to numb it.

I'm sorry to hear about your expensive surgery! I've had nothing but problems when I had the band, primarily being a constant puking problem. I tried adjusting the fill, eliminating foods, eating slowly, chewing food down to nothing but the puking was constant. It made me miserable and just dreaded eating. From the moment I had the revision a month ago, the problem was gone. I can't tell you how much better I feel without the band. My feeling of being hungry is almost gone now too. I don't regret having the revision for a second. I wish you the best of luck. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.
