Thanks I have been meaning to take that picture for a while now but your post got me off my butt and doing it lol. It bugs me each time i get on this stie and see the image of the ultra skinny girl in a pair of my old jeans as if that is the reality after extreme weight loss no matter how you do it extreme weight loss will result in some excess skin. But not having the weight to carry is a much nicer life for me

    Hi Kate,

Thanks for checking on me - and congrats on your 24 pounds!

I'm recovering, but still struggling to feel a sense of normalcy and trust in my body again. Last night I had my first issue with heartburn and it was awful. actually came online here to see what information I could find as this is not something I've suffered from before. I don't think it was what I ate, because that was one of those cottage cheese cups about 12 hours before. At any rate, I don't want a repeat.

I've lost 18 pounds of weight and 17 pounds of fluid since surgery. it's a slow process, but right now, I don't care about that as much as trying to find normalcy, get back into a healthy routine for food and the myriad of vitamins!

    Thanks for checking on me.

Hi fellow Aussie whereabouts are you ? I live in NSW .. I also have concerns re how I am going to cope with protein shakes post surgery cause I really don't like Optifast very much or any shakes for that matter ... It also seems like there are more choices of flavours etc overseas ... I have discovered the Syntrax Nectar 'Fuzzy navel' is ok for a non milky drink .. It has whey powder which provides protein. I also purchased a small icecream maker from Big W where you freeze the container (shaped like a large icecream cone) & then pour the protein drink in .. Squeeze the container for about 2 mins & it turns the drink into soft serve icecream, which is easier to eat & swallow ... I am sure I will tire of the novelty fairly quickly but it is nice to have another alternative .. I have sent a friend request so we can keep in touch if you would like. I am having my sleeve on 7th April so am not goo far behind you best wishes for continued good recovery & on to the next stage, Rita

We all know that when one loses a lot of weight, there are going to be issues of loose skin which can be quite horrendous and ugly in many cases. We also know that when we have VSG, we are left with five little scars on our belly. So I will now get to the point which is that I feel that the photo at the top of the Gastric sleeve website on the left hand side is a serious misrepresentation. No one who loses as much weight as is depicted in the photo is left with the perfect tummy as the pic also
