I feel great now, just a little sore around the incision sites. Thanks for asking! And you're going to feel great getting to this point too next month. I wish that I had some insights for what to expect when I got down there so I would feel better prepared. Are you going by yourself or with someone? It's getting late but I will try to tell you the rest tomorrow.

    Take Care

There is a small waiting room on the second floor and a bigger one on the third floor. In the middle of the waiting room is an elevator used to take you up to the surgical area and back down to your room that night. Not bad until you see the people fresh out of anesthesia being wheeled back down in front of you. They look, and when it's your turn you will look, like a drugged out zombie. I had a lap band revision to sleeve so I also had a horrible tube coming out of my nose that went all the way down in to my stomach. My hair looked like I got electrocuted and my pony tail was dangling wildly on the side. Not my best look! Lol

At 7pm, I went down to the lobby and ran into Melissa, one of the main coordinators who was in for a conference. She told me that my labs would be next morning at 9. The restaurant is nice, cheap, good food (according to my husband), and the broth is good.

Next day, my group went in a couple of car loads to the lab about 5 minutes away. Our group of 8 was sent in and taken one by one back to be seen. There are also other patients that are walk in and they will see them before resuming the weight loss group testing. You go to the exam room and get your blood drawn by a woman NOT WEARING GLOVES. That shocked me because I am used to American standards and I expected the same. You get sent to the waiting room to wait. Prepare to wait! Bring a book, iPad, or something to entertain yourself. I got called back again and was given an EKG and history of surgeries, meds, allergies, etc. by a doctor. He writes your info on the back of the EKG paper. I got sent back out to the waiting room to wait. I got called back one more time to pay your balance, if any. At about 11 am, they take you from the lab to the hospital to have your surgery and stay the night. Again, lots of waiting. My surgery happened at about 5 pm,with 4-5 more surgeries after mine.

    Hi there!

I've been back for almost a week now. It has definitely been an experience! If you're flying in to San Diego, it's beautiful. I had to wait a couple of hours, no biggie. There were about 8 of us plus some spouses/friends. You get picked up in mini vans and trucks. The drivers are extremely nice, but they don't all speak a lot of English. It's about an hour ride across the border, we didn't have to stop there. When we got to the hotel we met a nice guy named Eduardo. I think he was supposed to be the coordinator but very limited English. He checked my name off on his phone and said I would be going for labs that night at 7pm. I was feeling hungry! I'd been fasting for 3 days and wanted some broth. Ok, I really wanted some enchiladas! My husband and I requested an inner room business suite. He wasn't very excited at the time because he wanted a view but it turned out to be the best room in the building. Tijuana is a party town that parties with tons of people, car horns honking, street food vendors, and mariachi bands that play on the street until 5-6 in the morning. So some of the people I met we're having a lot of trouble sleeping well on the outside rooms. My room was 623 and the nurses' room is on the sixth floor, not to far away.
