Hi mem! Congrats on your wl. I'd love to stay in touch with a fellow person from CT and maybe we can support one another!
  2. Hi mem. I'm doing fine, I had a couple months where I was stalling a lot but turns out I was using the wrong protein powder and thus wasn't getting enough protein every day. Yes I am off soft foods. I enjoy a lot of cheeses, I eat a couple light cheese sticks for a meal every day and it's 16g protein. My tastes really haven't changed but I have gotten intolerant of spicy food and tart/sour things like some citrus fruit. I'm tired too but turns out I have too much Iron in my system but we're working on that. Other than that, getting in all my proteins and liquids every day and slowly but surely losing. I'm not on here too much anymore so feel free to drop me a message here and there. -Sara
  3. My doctor's plan was to keep me on the soft food phase for 3 months. I'll be getting off it toward the end of February. I'm sorry you're feeling weak and stressed out though, that's terrible. I felt that way the first two weeks after surgery but around week 3 got my energy back in surplus even though I still can't do much exercise due to my joints. The other thing I have trouble with is my nerves are very raw now so I fly off the handle very easily. I'm working on that with my therapist though. I hope everything goes well with your job though, that sounds like a frightful situation to be in. Best of luck to you!

Good luck today! I hope that everything goes well and that you have a smooth and easy recovery.
  6. Hi there! I've been doing fine, the worst I've had so far is the two main incisions on my abdomen like to get sore if I use those muscles too much. I'm supposed to be on pureed food right now but to be honest I am eating a little more solid food. I am very careful with my stomach so I make sure it's not too often or too hard and always chew, chew, chew. On the 15th I get put on soft foods anyway so this is kind of like a half and half phase. I'm doing just fine, getting in all my protein and water/liquid and my vitamins. I hope you're doing alright as well. Best to you!

The psych eval was a chat with the psych, she had a list of questions that she asked and we chatted about really no big deal. I did the sleep study I really didn't know if I had sleep apnea my hubby says I snore but I did the sleep study and I don't have it. I have my stress test with cardiologist next week and then the following week I will go for endoscopy. That should complete all my surgeons pre op stuff for insurance. I have fep blue cross blue shield.

I had my psych evaluate was really no big deal she was really nice wish she took my insurance I could see going to her after surgery. Had sleep study I don't have sleep apnea, high cholesterol or diabetes. I do have greed and arthritis hoping that will work with insurance. I also saw nutritionist she approved of the surgery for me. I just have my echo cardio tomorrow, then stress test in a week one more consult with my primary. I feel like this surgery is my last hope for weightloss
  12. I just came upon your message while trying to figure out this site. I am sorry that i didn't reply, or did i?
Now you say you are dieting, will that jeopardize the insurance authorization? What if you don't mind was your BMI? How was the psych eval? Any feeling what they are looking for? What were the first 3 appts? Are you required to see a nutritionist? My nerves are fried trying to think of all the possibilities. I am at about a 39 BMI with possible sleep apnea. If i do have sleep apnea i think i am ok. But, i have heard that they look at the last 2 years of your weights at your pcp office, i don't go that often and i know they are up there but not near where i am today. So i've also been toying with trying to GET to a BMI of 40...do you know it is really hard to gain weight when you want to? It is actually good practice for the surgery because i often feel like i could not put another thing in my stomach I see the Nutritionist on Thurs. (we are friendly, i went to her for about 5 mos over the summer - unsuccessful, and before i heard anything about sleeves) I have gained probably 20 lbs since i last saw her so i don't know how that will work either with the insurance company. I wish there was a LIST!

I will be using Dr Mancini in Knoxville, TN. I had my first appt back on 1/15, have had my 2nd appt on 2/7 and have got my third appt scheduled for 3/5. I've also have my 1st appt with the surgeon scheduled for late March. So I guess you could say I am in month two. Surgery probably will not be until late June or in July. Got my psych evaluation out of the way and basically just waiting to go through the insurance requirements and trying to loose some weight now and start putting some good practices in place that will help me down the road.

I still can't wait

by mem222 on 11-19-2014 at 12:49 PM
Well, AETNA has denied my surgery, last Mon. Yesterday the ins. person was submitting it for what is like a re-review, they were told at this point it has to go "peer to peer". The Dr. is in today from 1 - 3 so I really hope it happens today. My body is giving out, now I have ankle pain. I am a nervous wreck, I wish I had the money to pay for this myself but I just don't - won't go to Mexico.

Anxious

by mem222 on 02-19-2014 at 10:33 AM
There are so many hoops to jump through, I am very nervous. I really want/need this surgery! Soon! I am waiting for the referral for a sleep study test (I really think i have sleep apnea) i go to see the nut tomorrow... and that is where i stand. My weight is the highest it has been since i gave birth to my son 18 years ago. I worry that:
1. if AETNA looks at my pcp records for the past 2 years my weight won't be high enough.
2. if i DON'T have sleep apnea i won't qualify
