About Palespring
- Sleeved or not sleeved:
- I have had a gastric sleeve.
- Biography:
- Married since April 30, 2009. I have two daughters ages 4 and 7. I had lapband on November 27, 2007,when I weighed 345lbs. I lost 100lbs. About 20 months ago I started to gain the weight back, in total about 40 lbs. I had a catscan and barium swallow, which both showed the band slipped. I saw Dr James Davidson in October and was converted to a sleeve on January 7th 2014. I highly discourage anyone from ever getting the lapband. During my sleeve surgery, Dr Davidson discovered my stomach was very damaged and stretched, which then required him to rebuild the top of my stomach. He stapled and stitched the tissue after building the sleeve and kept me on a drain for 2 days post op to allow time for my stomach to heal and prevent leaks. His straightforward demeanor is what every person with a weight issue needs. We don't need coddling, we need someone who knows their skill and does it well.
So far I am a little over 2 weeks out of the hospital and 26lbs down. I was 286 the day of surgery. Dr Davidson saved my life.

Update January 8, 2015: Today marks a milestone, I finally saw a "1" as the first number on the scales. The day after my one year anniversary since surgery, and I saw 199 on the scales!!!!! On 1/9/2015, I dropped down to 198. I want to get to 195 soon, that way if I retain water I won't ever see the 200 mark again. Its a mental thing.
Why does a number mean so much? I've been thinking about this since I began my journey. That 199 is a goal I've had for about 20 years.
