  1. Thank you Bonnie,

I've made my "grocery list" which includes what I need for the 2 week diet and then for 2 weeks after surgery - I figured after that I will be feeling better and will be able to do more shopping. When I had the lap band I used to eat and drink Premier Protein and I've decided to go that again - that along with the Calcium, multivitamin, B12, a scale and I'm splurging for a Nutri Ninja. That way I can start playing around with different recipes. NINE MORE DAYS TO MY 2 WEEK DIET !!!! I'm not the most patient individual never have.

    Thanks again.

(Part 2 of my message) Stock on some soups - my favorites were Tomato & Basil and Broccoli Cheese. Had to strain the broccoli cheese but it was worth it. The Tomato & Basil became my favorite. Blended and strained vegetable soup too but I didn't think it was worth the effort. While you need protein which you will get from the shakes, the first week is more about fluids. Plan to do a lot of resting because your body needs to heal. Don't worry about vitamins or exercising - over than walking for the blood clots. Your emotions will also be a little crazy because your hormones will be bouncing all over the place. There was one moment when my husband had prepared himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I will never forget. I looked at that sandwich and thought - "what the heck have I done? I will never be able to eat a whole sandwich again." Even funnier to me as I look back because I don't even like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. But that will pass too.

Feel free to ask me any specific questions that you have. Dr. Nicholson and his team of surgeons is amazing. I'm so glad I went to them for the surgery.

    Best of Luck - Bonnie

Yes, I did stay overnight. I guess you are having your surgery through True Results and they handle it as an outpatient. Truthfully, I might have done better at home. After I came out of recovery, I was restricted by the IV pouring fluid into me all night. That hindered walking and made me have to pee more. And they were in frequently to wake me up to take vital signs. As long as you have someone at home to assist with your needs, you will be fine. I do recommend that you take Gas-X Strips with you to the surgery and let 2 melt on your mouth before you leave for home. They were my savior for gas pains. You will want to be sure to walk around your house for short distances every couple of hours - while awake - to prevent blood clots. Be sure you have chicken broth, protein powder for shakes and sugar free popsicles. I would go back and forth between wanting cold liquid and warm liquid. Also ask your pharmacist for several one ounce medicine cups. You will want to start by putting your fluids - including water - into one of the little cups. Then sip that one ounce over a 15 minute period. Keep doing that the entire time you are awake for dehydration. I only took pain meds right before I left the hospital and the first two nights at home. I was prescribed an abdominal binder - like a corset with velcro - that helped with pain.

See that you are having your surgery done by Dr. Nicholson. Mine was done by Dr. Carlton in Nicholson's Clinic. They are great. You should do well. Feel free to ask me any questions that you have. I am a little over 2 months post surgery and loving it. Best of luck - Bonnie

Very Concerned that I have narcolepsy

by helen5188 on 07-02-2015 at 05:01 AM
Ok, I'm 10 months post surgery, lost 87 pounds give or take but lately I have had severe episodes of sleeping. Falling asleep at a red light, falling asleep at work (several times), falling asleep when stopped to look for directions when out of town. This all concerns me very much and it's about to have a BAD effect on my job. Any advice - this is scaring me.

Stuck just shy of 6 months

by helen5188 on 03-01-2015 at 11:13 PM
For almost 6 months I have lost steadily - so far 73 pounds. But for the last month - I waver at the same point. I'm careful, maybe alittle cheat and making sure I get my protein in. Maybe I've gotten too relaxed - don't know but I still have 25 pounds to go and I can't get stalled here. HELP!!!!!
