I am doing good. I am at 163. 18 more to go to my goal of 145. I haven't been doing what I am supposed to lately though. I have had a lot going on and I feel like I just eat junk most of the time. However ice cream used to be my favorite treat before surgery and now I can barely tolerate it. I get so sick. So that's probably a blessing in disguise. And chocolate gives me the worst heartburn. Lol. I am glad you are doing well! We will have to plan a reunion trip or something! Haha.

I hope you are doing well. I'd love to hear from you. As you know I got engaged in Feb., married in May. Had a wonderful wedding and honeymoon. I lost 18 pounds and gained 4 back. I need yo get it under control but I'm very happy.

How are you? How is your mom? I think of you both and how I would have not survived without your help. You were my guardian angels!!!!

Diana just wanted to give you an update. I'm now 4 days post op and feeling good. You and lulu helped me through a little panic that I had about 2 weeks out from surgery. And it's amazing on the day of my surgery I was cool as a cucumber. Anyways how are you doing? Should be on pureed foods by now. I'm definitely looking forward to that. Hope you are doing well and thanks again. Sorry it took so long to get back with you.

I know, I was pretty sick afterwards and spent lot of time in room I'm doing well with weight loss I guess but still can't keep a lot down. Not from surgery tho, just been sick. My incisions are healing well except I have that is still open and will have to heal from inside out! I broke out from tape and also the bandage stuff we used at home hope u are doing well! Hate that we didn't get to meet up, met a lot of very nice people there and dr was great!!
  13. Sorry I've been offline, been a nutty week. Big news (beyond my 15lbs loss). After I returned from my surgery, I received the opportunity to truly live my dream. I have been offered, and have accepted, a position with Hospice Compassus, an In-home hospice care company! I went to school to be a hospice nurse and now is my opportunity to provide care to the patient base I find most rewarding. It has been weird, giving notice the same day I gave my current employer my return to work letter, but fortunately they already knew about my personal goals and have been very supportive. Wow...what a year already.

Just wanted to say thank you and to check up on how you are doing? You and lulu are kind of my bench marks that I gage everything off of. It's been kind of an emotional roller coaster leading up to surgery. You and lulu have definitely made me feel better. Hope you are doing well. And thanks again.

Time for an update.

by Curvynurse on 08-25-2014 at 05:17 PM
I was just sitting here, reviewing the past and decided it was time for an update. For an update to make sense, we must first revisit the past....

I had my surgery in January, 2014. I weighed 225 (+) lbs and, at 5'3" was just short of morbidly obese. Like every single one of us, I was disgusted by myself and yet unable to find an answer to my continuously growing girth.

No insurance (of course) so saved, saved, saved and went to Tijuana for the surgery, which

The EASY way out?!!???

by Curvynurse on 01-21-2014 at 09:13 AM
I know, I'm just a chatty Cathy all of a sudden, but I really felt the need to share my thoughts.

Just read a post from a woman wondering if surgery was the "easy" way out. We've all heard or thought this (don't lie to yourself).

A bit of painful, brutal honesty first. We are all fat or have been fat. I know, I actually used the F word, but it's true. If we weren't, we wouldn't be on this forum, we'd be out speed dating or some other strange social behavior.

Weirdest surgical experience EVER

by Curvynurse on 01-20-2014 at 08:32 AM
OK, it's done. Surgery complete and on to new things. First though, I feel like I have to talk about the weirdest surgical experience ever.

Went to Tijuana and had Dr. Almanza. We arrived on the 15th (6 of us). A black limo picked us up, along with my Mom, and drove us straight to the clinic. We are all very surprised to be told we would be having surgery that day, as we were scheduled for the 16th.

Blood test done, IV started, echocardiogram completed (cardiologists

Stupid Brain

by Curvynurse on 01-13-2014 at 04:51 PM
So, here it goes. Today is Monday, January 13th. It's 3:32 pm in Arizona and I'm awake, darn it. I know that sounds weird, but I work nights (10pm to 6am) so this is the equivalent of about 2 am for me.

Started my pre-op liquid diet prep today. Not really a biggie since I eat weird hours anyway, but the head is not as logical as one would think.

I was sleeping soundly and suddenly woke up with a HUGE craving for anything solid. Of course I did, it's the one thing

Bummer

by Curvynurse on 01-11-2014 at 11:00 AM
So, veeery new to this blogging concept. Assume I am just supposed to put my thoughts down, kind of like a public diary. Anywho, my birthday was a few days ago, so my husband took me to dinner last night with friends. Spur of the moment we decide to go dancing afterward. Wish I hadn't. I LOVE to dance...at least I used to.

I was so shocked and dismayed when I could barely get through a single song without being totally out of air and wishing we were at an oxygen bar instead of
