  1. I wanted to just say....Now, I know this is random but for me it's AWESOME!!!! I have NEVER been able to cross my legs!!! I find myself thowing my leg over and sitting like a Queen. Legs crossed an all!!! I LOVE IT!!!
  2. Miss E Bella,

Drinking has replaced me eating practically. I could never drink the protein shakes. :-p Prior to my surgery I just ate jello, pineapples and bananas and lots and lots of water. I know i'm not getting my protein like i should. but I'm working on it. I am doing well too. where did you have your surgery? I'm assuming dr castro couldn't be in two places at one time so you must have been at BUMC. I live in lubbock and travelled to DFW for the surgery and stayed with family. i went to her house Friday even though I had the surgery on Thursday. at first i couldn't east anything but jello and soup. it had to be thick because thin hot liquids were NOT tasty and I my pouch couldn't handle it. I'll go for my follow up on January 20 so I'll be in town then...How much have you lost so far. I'm soooo surprised how much i've lost so far!!

Things are going ok. I'm doing better with my drinking but not getting 60 oz and I am struggling with my protein because I din't want to drink the shakes. But overall I feel good and I think I'm doing well.

    How about yourself?

About Aagemini
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I found this group because I've noticed a few things since my surgery. I've always been overweight, as far as I can remember. It was "cute" when I was a chubby toddler and never shed any of the extra pounds. I grew up in an "overweight" family. I was raised by typical Black Country fed, homegrown, soul food grandparents. My mom was the type of woman who loved being a voluptuous woman and I inherited that gene.

I loved being voluptuous, plus sized, etc. it wasn't until I realized the older I got the bigger I got. I got all the way up to 390 lbs and with health problems, single parenting, losing close family members and juggling too much that I started having severe health problems, namely Congestive Heart failure, Pulmonary Hypertension which caused me to go into respiratory distress. After being in a medically induced coma for 21 days I emerged plagued with Tracheal stenosis and almost died three times before they could diagnose it. Having to get a tracheostomy in 2011 and being told by numerous doctors that I would have the trach for the rest of my life I settled in to trying to build my life again.

One of the Doctors that told me that I would always have my trach removed it December of 2012. My trachea healed. I discovered that Medicare paid for gastric surgery and in May 1, 2013 I had my first consultation. Initially in 2009 I planned to get the Lap Band (I'm glad that things didn't work out for me to get it) I researched the gastric sleeve and found people that had the surgery. After months of planning I had my surgery October 31, 2013.

Hello all!

I didn't post anything yesterday because I spent the better part of the day in bed. Today is another day. Christmas was sad for me. Even though I have lots to be thankful for, bottom line i was depressed. My daughters tried to cheer me up as much as they could and im grateful for them being here. Today I have errands to run and I'm going to upcycle a pair of shoes that i found at goodwill. Have a good day everyone.

I so many emotions going through me right now. I want to start off by saying that I ordered a dress for New years. New Years 2014 will be a start of something new for me I ordered a 3X even though I probably won't be able to fit it in a couple of weeks, months, etc. It's a dress that I wouldn't have considered before my surgery. The reason I joined this site is because I've been soooo emotional lately!! I cry, yell, scream, stomp my feet, cuss among other things. I stopped taking my Effexor
