I'm having my surgery with Dr. Almanza on the 3rd of January also, I hope to get a chance to meet you and Torid both since we are all having the surgery the same day. I'm flying in from Ga and my husband is coming with me. My daughter had the surgery this past July and she's down 79lbs.

Hello. i will be in mexico on the 4th. sleeved on the 5th. I'm 59yrs. will be by myself because i didn't tell anyone about this. my weight is 225. held fairly steady for the last 2 months. my goal is 140# I'm 5'6"tall. a grandmother of 6 and mom of 2. been divorced since about 1986. Struggled with weight most of my life..but really got away from me since menopause !! I wish us all success and hope to meet those of you who will be there the few days that i will be there.

We made it to my sisters, and she surprised me with the wonderful news that she is coming with me and it was a surprise!!! Enjoy tomorrow!!! I had my first day on the pre opt diet. I did good it was still hard as all my family is still eating cakes and fudge and pasta and all thing great. lol but it is worth what I will gain long term. We all did the movies today... but I made it. It's really starting to hit me how much change we are really going to have to make.
I have told some of my clients/friends... but I am waiting till I hear "you have lost wait what are you doing." I have gotten a lot of grief in the past about going to Mexico. So they can't say much if I come back and all is well. I still have to tell my mother in law... That's not a conversation I want to have...
I work with the top plastic surgeon in Orlando so I will have one of the nurses take out the stitches I've read a lot of people saying wait 14 days. So I will wait at least 12.
I'm going to have my husband shop for me. When I fly out he will drive home. So he will have the time.

So who is going to remove your stitches? I have planned on doing this myself at the 12 day mark.. I know it sounds crazy, but I have removed stitches before on myself and my oldest son so I am pretty confident I will be ok.
I have a friend that just had the surgery Friday in Dallas, TX. She is feeling great today the swelling is going down, she is able to take in more fluids and she is down 22 pounds this morning. 13 of those pounds were from the pre op diet the rest since surgery. I am so happy for her and can't wait to be at that point! She said the first two days are tough because of the soreness but you have to remember you just had major surgery and walk walk walk! oh and drink as much as you can very slow!
I'm glad we have met and will be able to support each other in our journey!! YAY to both of us. 12 days and counting!! Have safe travels to your sisters and to Mexico!! Merry Christmas if I don't get to talk to you again!

My husband flies up Jan 1, we will stay in Denver then fly out on the 2. He was really freaked out about the decision to go to Mexico, I had to write it all out for him in the terms of money, then had to assure him of the doctor and the clinic. I am glad he is going but at the same time I should have planned on meeting other people going thru the same things I am. I'm sure we will meet while we are there!! I have been battling this decision for 2 years now.
I plan on going back to work the 7th. I sit at a desk and do paperwork and we are wrapping up this project so the work load is slim to none already. I may do half days until I feel up to it. But I do no lifting and my co-workers will do anything I need them to. They know I am having surgery but don't know what kind. I have been keeping quite about all of this. I'm not sure if it's because I don't want the backlash of everyone elses thoughts or my nerves being on end and I'm afraid someone will be able to talk me out of it.
I have already stocked my pantry with protein bars, Gatorade, sugar free pudding, sugar free jello, the approved sweeteners, herbal teas and so forth. I also have my little medical box ready with the wound wash, butterfly band aids, gauze and anti bacterial soap. I think I am prepared but I keep thinking I am missing a few things.

I work in the actual Pipeline industry. We acquire Easements for the Construction phase to come thru and put pipe in the ground for transportation of liquids, such as gas and oil. I have never heard of a program called Pipeline, i'll have to check into that
Yes I am a grandma!! My son Michael is 23 and has two and one on the way.. they are Bentley 3, Avaa 7 months and new one is another girl due in April. Then my daughter Chelsea 20, just had Kollyn he is 6 weeks. My youngest son Brenden 18, doesn't have any yet. Thank goodness!! I'm proud of them all!
I start my Pre op diet the day after Christmas, I was suppose to start 5 days prior to surgery but I know my first few days will be the hardest, so I planned a couple days ahead of time to help in case I backslide. Thats awesome that you sister is doing that for you, having Christmas dinner early supporting you by the healthy eating. My daughter is here with me now and she is going to try and be supportive like that but she cant make any promises I'm just glad she is trying.

Grandma??? I'm thinking your not old enough, but my oldest is 16 so he could give me grandbabbies when I am as young as you are...
Well truth be told I am already a grandma my husband is 10 years older and has 2 sons (together we have 5) and his youngest has given us 1 boy and 1 girl. However we are not very close....

When are you starting your pre opt diet? I have to start on the 24th. I live in Orlando Fl and we are traveling to Nashville Tn, most of my family lives there. So my wonderful sister decided to have Christmas dinner on the 23rd, and has told the entire house that there will be nothing but healthy eating until I leave. My poor nieces and nephews lol. I am flying out of Nashville on the 2nd.

When are you planning on going back to work? Are you worried about traveling while learning how to eat and adjust?

I am back to back in the Salon with mostly facials on the 10th... Mostly sitting so I think it should be ok, I hope. I almost did this last year... But every one freaked out because it was in Mexico. So I'm going to come clean when I hear "wow you have lost weight what are you doing".

It's good to talk with you and I am glad I will have someone to compare with.

Yes I am having my surgery on 1-3-14. I am really nervous about it, but like you have heard wonderful things about the dr and staff.

I will be traveling with my husband, he refused to let me do this alone. I am really grateful for that, seeing he is my rock!

I am 42 (my birthday is Jan 8) I have three children, 2 boys and 1 girl. I also have three grandchildren, 2 boys 1 girl and one on the way.

I travel with my job for the Pipeline. I have been all over the place in the last 3 years.

It's nice to meet people going through the same things I am. I find a little bit of comfort in this site
