Hi Butterfly, I was wondering if you could tell me how your cravings for sweets is going? Have you licked it or still battling with it? If you licked it, how did you do it? I have a crazy thing going on where all I want to eat is fruit and protein bars. Its not candy, but its all sweet.

I would love to have some more recipes. I hope to have my sleeve done in March if all goes well.
  3. What happens at 3mo check-up? Blood Tests?
I'm approaching my 3mo doctor apt and wanted to know what to expect. Should I bring my food log to review? Is that the time you get cleared to eat more foods or have free reign as long as I get my daily protein in? What was were apt like? THANKS
  4. Egg salad? I love egg salad! Yay I didn't think I could have any of the foods you mentioned, but I don't see why not!? of 2 more weeks of strained soups. My nut said I should purée meats starting this week... eeeeew! I just can't wrap my brain around purée-d meats. I can, however, get behind chilli/refried beans and ff sour cream. Yum! Thanks SO much!
  5. I'm new to this site. I've gotten "LIKES" on some of my posts. Who do you "LIKE" people's post? I don't see that button.
  6. Your emergence from a fat chrysalis is now just a few hours away. You're going to have a beautiful transformation in 2014, I just know it.
  7. My surgery date is in 8 hrs! The day has finally come and I'm so excited and not nervous at all. These last 2 days being on all clear liquid diet is finally over. This evening has been hard bc I had to fix dinner for my 2 kids and I was so hungry. But, it has a worthwhile payoff. Good Luck to all who are on their pre-op diets. Next post will be after I return home form hospital.

I am in Louisville Ky I too am having surgery on the 12/9 mine will take place in mexico with DR Almanza
  9. Hi Butterfly2013! Next Thursday, I begin the same pre-op liver reduction diet that you're doing: 2 weeks of protein shakes and clear liquids 2 days before surgery. To be honest, I'm more afraid of that 2-week liquid diet than the surgery itself. When it comes to food, I have the weakest will power in the world. I'm really, really rooting for you to be successful each day of your liquid diet- that would give me hope!

On another forum (*****************, I think) I loved this advice from hoosierfatty, who is a year+ post-op, given to people who were complaining/worried/apprehensive about the 2-week liquid diet:

Now put on your big girl panties. Decide you are going to KICK ASS on your pre-op diet. No excuses. Once you get your mind right, become determined, ferocious, powerful and focused you can achieve ANYTHING you set your mind to. This is all in your head. It's a mental game to "win" on your pre-op diet. Make a meal by meal choice (or hour by hour choice) to stick with your pre-op program and kick the crap out of your pre-op diet. Go into surgery feeling like a success! All the little choices add up to BIG success. Set yourself up for success by shrinking your liver for a safe surgery. You are in the home stretch before your sleeve. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Isn't that a great!? Hope it helps you. I printed it out and will probably be reading it over and over once my liquid diet starts.

Biography:
I'm a 39yr single Mom of 2 boys ages 13yr and 14yr. I've been divorced for 8 yrs and have only gone on 2 dates. My ex-husband was verbally abusive and would constantly remind me that I "haven't lost the baby weight" and how fat I had become. That just caused me to eat more and become depressed which turned into a vicious cycle. I'm finally strong enough to take care of myself. I've lost 85 lbs since 8/12 but still need to loss 100lbs more. That's why I'm getting the Sleeve surgery. My boys are getting older and its time I work on myself more. This surgery will help me physically & emotionally. Someday I hope to feel good about myself inside and out then start dating again. I want to become healthier and have more energy to do fun activities with my teenage boys. Most of all, I want to be alive to see my kids get married, start a career, and have grandkids. I want to be an active Mimi and have lots of fun with my adult children and my grandchildren. This surgery will allow me to loose enough weight and keep it off to be healthy, experience less pain, be more active and look better.

I Lost 78 lbs since Surgery & 153 lbs since I started this journey

by butterfly2013 on 11-15-2014 at 04:39 PM
Since Ive been down since my weight gain, I wanted to remind myself that Ive lost 78 lbs since surgery 12-9-13 & 153 lbs since I started this journey 1-13. I had hoped to be at my goal weight 211lbs at my 1 year anniversary date so I feel disappointed that December 9th is coming up in 3 weeks and Im not at goal. I need to remind myself that even if I didn't make it to mu goal at a set date that I'm healthier and smaller than I was 1 year ago. No matter what the scale says, I'm in a better place

Back to the Basics

by butterfly2013 on 11-15-2014 at 04:29 PM
I've had the same trouble last few months and I'm 11 months post-op. I didn't loose for 2 months + gained 10lbs. Today is my first day to track my food again and even get support from other posts. I was glad to read a post similar to my situation so I know these episodes do happen to other people even after surgery. (I really thought there was no way I could gain weight quickly again after surgery even though classes & DR said it's possible...well it's true) I got slack on measuring my food

by butterfly2013 on 02-15-2014 at 01:54 PM
I had my 10 week follow up today with my surgeon and then dietician. I Lost 46 lbs since surgery & 121 lbs since I started this journey getting prepared for surgery. I was getting frustrated this week bc I didn't see the scale move much. Dr. did my measurements to compare to last Jan 3, 2103 when my 1st apt was after information meeting. Comparisons are waist was 54.5 now 47 in, hips was 62 and now 54.5 in, breast were 48DDD and now 42 C (between C and D now). Im glad to see my inches slimming.

Throwing up over Kitty going to heaven

by butterfly2013 on 12-27-2013 at 10:35 AM
Our family cat Geri died suddenly last night in his sleep without no warning. Geri is only 6yr old and in good health I thought...well he was 15 lbs but he was "fluffy" not "fat" My kids even joked that the part of my stomach they cut off from the sleeve surgery was going to be sewn onto Geri's stomach so he could eat more kitty treats. We rescued Geri as a tiny fluff ball 6wk old kitten. He will be missed terribly. I was so upset last night that I threw up from crying and

2 weeks post-op and lost 12 lbs!

by butterfly2013 on 12-22-2013 at 09:32 PM
I'm excited that I've lost 12 lbs so far. It's more than I expected. I'm eating pureed foods now and have 1 more week left until I move to soft foods. Everything going good. Having some problem swallowing all my meds + vitamins at night but got some good advice online and will implement some ideas starting tomorrow. The pain has been minimal and that's awesome bc usually I've got a low pain tolerance. Christmas in a few days and I'm optimistic for the first time in awhile. I wish my Mom was here
