Thank you! What a great compliment! I feel a lot younger! I also love looking at everyone else's before and afters, and often think the same about my fellow sleevers looking younger as they lose weight! The transformations amaze me! Hope you are doing well!

Thanks, I am now on day two of my liquid diet and I have already noticed differences in just the one day. My troop is going on a canoeing trip the weekend after my surgery and it is killing me not to go. I am 375 right now and my weight never stopped me from trying anything. I even went caving until my knees hurt so much from crawling. I did the Appalachian Trail for 16 miles last year and that was awesome, but quite difficult to walk the mountains with 40 lbs. on my back. I also have another son crossing over to boy scouts in a year. I did Woodbadge last year and still have Powerhorn and Philmont on my bucket list.

ScouterJim, I am also a scouter. I am about to start my journey to a new life. My son that is now 12 can't wait for me to go kayaking with him. I have my Pre Op meeting in a week and will have surgery on July14. I am nervous, but know it is a good thing. I have not show the boys that I live a healthy life by example. That is going to change. I am down by Atlanta, GA USA.

    Thanks,
    Eric.

You're welcome and I know exactly what you mean about feeling younger and better! I worry that one of these days that "feeling" will fade, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts!

About ScouterJim
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I've always been a big guy. As a kid I wore "husky" clothes and by high school I was wearing XL. Several years ago during a serious attempt to lose weight I developed a muscle condition that caused severe cramping whenever I attempted any physical exercise. A year later I shattered a kneecap. As a result my weight shot up. A change to a more sedentary job didn't help.By then I was pushing 320 lbs. I developed a severe case of edema and my weight shot up at an incredible rate.

I was accepted into a government funded weight management program and through this have been approved to be sleeved. However my weight continues to skyrocket due to the edema. Today I weigh 60 lbs more than when I entered the Weight Management program in April despite a dramatic dietary lifestyle change and a switch to working out 3-5 times a week. Surgery can't come soon enough for me.

It's been a long road but today I had the best NSV yet

by ScouterJim on 10-07-2014 at 12:47 AM
It's amazing what changes life with the sleeve can bring. Almost 3 years ago I was laid off when the company I was with pulled their sales office out of my city. When that happened I made the decision to retire at 44 years old due to my health. I was a sales rep who could not walk more than 150 feet. I couldn't get through a door to go see customers. I had no choice but to try to focus on my health.

I was very good at what I did and I had seen a lot of success in sales so I was able

A confession and a huge NSV

by ScouterJim on 08-16-2014 at 03:56 AM
It's been a while since I have posted anything. I figured it was time to update. I'm going to admit that I have been struggling a bit lately. Outing myself will hopefully help me be more accountable for my bad decisions. I am finding myself slipping back into some of my old unhealthy habits. I have been eating more junk food. Potato chips are a slider for me and I have found myself reaching for them more and more in the evening. I also find that my portions seem to be getting bigger and bigger as

I did it - Reaching more impossible goals

by ScouterJim on 06-08-2014 at 08:31 PM
I love the new active lifestyle that my sleeve is allowing me to enjoy. I have always loved being in the outdoors. I live in a part of the world that people from all over the world flock to just to enjoy our natural settings. This week I managed to reach to more of my impossible goals. For the first time in years I climbed into a canoe and spent an evening canoeing with the Scouts. They were quite surprised that I could get that little thing moving pretty quickly. I was surprised that I didn't sink

Time to get out on the water

by ScouterJim on 05-28-2014 at 04:02 PM
A couple of months ago I bought my 14 year old son a new kayak. He had one but had significantly outgrown it and by the end of the season last year it looked more like a submarine than a kayak. After getting him a new kayak he suggested that it would be way more fun if we could both get out there together. So I found a kayak that was rated for 325 lbs but it was going to be another submarine because I was still 350lbs. This morning I weighed in at 326 lbs (which is 126 lbs lost). This means I finally

Sometimes a bad picture can be a great NSV

by ScouterJim on 05-26-2014 at 12:50 AM
As you might suspect by my name, I am a Scout Leader. It's one of my true passions. I love being able to help the youth of our city enjoy exciting activities that they may not otherwise have had the opportunity to try. One of the events that I am very active in helping to run is a Soapbox Derby for 8-10 year old kids. I am one of the main organizers of the largest Derby in the country and have now been asked to help with actually running a smaller one which took place yesterday. Today a picture
