  1. Just thought I'd stop in and see what's new. I'm also reporting that I never made it to One-derland. Kinda sad, but my issues are deeper than weight, it's living life with all it's ups and downs that come along with it. I thoroughly believe that in order to reach a finite goal, one must be a bit insane, just a bit, and have a steady job, life with little stresses. Ok, so that's the way I feel, don't kill me for saying this. The sleeve is still working because I still can't eat a lot of food and grease makes me throw up immediately. I have insane diahreah when I eat sugar, or have dairy foods. It's in everything, so I have to be careful when at meeting lunches or at events, so quite boring. I really wish that wouldn't happen so often, but I think it has become my new normal. When I exercise, I immediately lose weight like I should, but because I'm a human being, I still veer towards not really liking exercise, so I regain, over time. I sometimes feel like I should have done the bypass to see crazy immediate results, but then, what would happen then?!? More diarrhea, more throwing up - Geesh!!! Anyway, good luck and keep at it. I'm sure it was worth it.
  2. I never reached my goal with the sleeve. I lost 80 lbs and regained 30 of it back so in totality, I have lost 50 lbs. The interesting thing is that it feels like my set point is 280 because I never go over that weight and I never go under it. My sleeve is at least functioning to ensure that I never get back up to where I was and that's some relief. As a menopausal person, getting back in he mindset of losing weight has been hard because it takes sooo much work to lose a few pounds. Plus, with the stresses of work, lay-offs, and such, I feel that I'm never at the right time to think about my health. So, thank God for the sleeve, but I could/should be doing so much better!

Congrats on your progress. How are you coming along. At 2.5 years out, I'm finding the hardest part is maintaining but I continue to work hard. I can now eat more at least a small saucer of food. I have to strive to make good choices. I've worked too hard to get to this point. Just sending you words of encouragement. I tell myself that eating the junk food does not make me nearly as happy as being healthy feels.

Good luck on your journey looks like you have worked real hard too. Great results in your before and after pic. You can see it in your face. Best of luck on your success

Bladefox, I read your other post about heartburn. Wow, I wish you didn't have this problem. I'm not a fan of meds either, but I took a few Gas-x strips my first week, and haven't had to use them since. The chicken broth idea is what i did too. No salt seasoning and black pepper, or garlic pepper sure tasts good. Funny I was such a coffee drinker, but now i prefer a warm cup of chicken or beef broth. Please consider the Gas-x strips, they work quick and dissolve on your tongue. Feel better, my friend.

Good!?! At first I would have periods of head hunger. I thought that I would be better when I could eat a little something. But, my first food day was yesterday and I kind of whimped out! . So far today, I have only had a protein shake with unsweetened almond milk (195 cals/26g protein) and working on my first 32 oz of water. Hopefully, as the days go on I will get better about eating. Kind of scared that I'll have too much, so right now i am writing down everything that I put into my mouth in my journal. Warm hugs my friend.
  13. New photo for a new me. The real me is coming soon!
  14. Went great! Only had pain the day of and that was from the air they pumped into the abdomen. And I'm doing well with the liquids. A little nauseous from drinking so much (3ozs every hr) and I started my shakes today which is going well.
  15. Hope all went well! Our surgeries were the same day!

About BladeFox
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I am an education administrator that has never been fond of yo-yo dieting. I have been on about three diets and the one that was the most successful was Atkins where I lost 80 lbs and kept it off for about three-and-a-half years...until my Mother passed away, then I became this emotional wreck where food was the only thing that helped ease the pain. Four year later I decided that I would try another diet, the HCG plan and I lost 87 lbs, however, it was harder to keep off. The past year has been reflective where I decided that what I really need is something that could prevent me from overeating. I am not so much a bad eater than a seconds, third, fourths eater which is my downfall. The sleeve from what I have researched is the answer and the tool. The goal is to get off the meds, live a bountiful and happy long life with my family.

You Must Be Inventive!

by BladeFox on 03-26-2014 at 10:43 AM
I am six day out of surgery and it has been five days that I have had to manage my vitamin, water, and food intake, yet, I have not been hungry. What I have been is bored so now I am trying to be inventive with my sad full-liquid items

This morning I took my homemade chicken broth and was pondering what could I make that would keep me on the full-liquid and would satisfy my taste buds. So...I decided to boil some broth and use that in place of water for my cream of wheat. YUM

What Does a Food Funeral Look Like?

by BladeFox on 03-06-2014 at 01:59 PM
Lately, I have been reading how people are having serious food funerals. I have had a few but not on the GREAT scale. It is more like I want to eat some enchaladas with spanish rice, so I eat about three of them and a bowl of spanish rice. Then I want some ice cream, so I will go to DQ and get a small cone. Next, I want a Gyro, so I go and get one OR I want something sweet, so I will go and get a sticky pecan bun from Starbucks. I think my food funerals are minimal because it's not all day

Interesting How Family Works

by BladeFox on 03-02-2014 at 11:46 AM
Yesterday, was my husband's birthday so we went to The Original Pancake House, his favorite place to celebrate. Over breakfast I made a family announcement and shared with our teens that my surgery is real and planned for Wednesday, March 19. So they began to ask tons of questions and they both want to take off from school to support me, which I am fine with. However, I watched my daughter get a bit sad when talking about it and realized that she had greater concerns about this surgery. She

I Must Admit Something

by BladeFox on 02-24-2014 at 08:31 PM
So, I had been calm until this week and WOW how I have realized that I have little patience with my teens, everything is making me somewhat annoyed and it feels like the days are super long leading up to GO LIVE! I think I am nervous and antsy. I never thought I would say that. I need to process with my husband what is getting ready to happen or someone. My husband is supportive but doesn't like to talk about it much and I need to talk. I think it is his way of dealing with a major surgery

Trying to Keep Up

by BladeFox on 02-10-2014 at 12:55 PM
Admittantly, my husband is one of the main reasons why I need to lose this weight. This is new because before him my list was and is that I need to lose weight because my knees creak and hurt from sitting to standing and my hips hurt from moving and I'm on an anti depressant, and two blood pressure meds, PLUS, diabetes and heart desease runs in our family. However, over the past couple of years I have added the need to keep up with my husband.

See, my husband has been running for
