Take that, psych eval! Too funny.

by AutismMom on 04-05-2014 at 06:10 PM
My psych eval experience was outstandingly entertaining. Three visits in all, first for an interview, second, for assessments, and the third to go over the report. The funny part of it all is that I am technically qualified to actually conduct these evals (though have not actually conducted a bariatric eval as my area of expertise is different), and I was assigned to a doctoral intern who clearly didn't read my background and spent the first 10 minutes of appointment #1 explaining to me what "doctoral

CPAP yuck

by AutismMom on 02-20-2014 at 07:30 PM
I've now spent my first two nights on a CPAP. Hate it. It's comfortable, but just super distracting. It's hard to sleep when I keep thinking about this machine. I ordered some pur-sleep aromatherapy stuff to try to help.

Disney World

I'm still pre-op, but am trying to keep good habits. I have an appt and a weigh in two days after I get back so I'm paranoid about what the scale will say. Fortunately, we will do tons of walking. I'm made reservations for most of our meals so I've been able to do some research. I just keep perseverating about

Funny, on the surface I suppose, but really made me sad

by AutismMom on 01-06-2014 at 07:12 PM
My sweet, sweet husband, who has been so supportive of my pursuing this decided that he fully supports me but wants me to be happy with myself. He wants to reassure me that he loves me any way I am.
So, in a very well meaning gesture, he told me that his Christmas gift to me was to (finally) get rid of all his porn mags (the good part), and replace them with porn of "curvy" (fat) women, so that I would feel better about myself.
Face palm! oh brother. He was half-way there...

Self reflection

by AutismMom on 12-23-2013 at 02:42 PM
My husband just went out to run an errand, and as soon as he left, I immediately went to the kitchen to find a snack. In reflection, I always do this. He leaves, I eat. Even if he is gone 2 minutes, it's like a reflex response. This time, I decided to write this instead of eat, but this is nuts. I know some people may say they eat because they are lonely, I seem to eat when I am alone (not the same thing). I'm not necessarily hungry, and have had a great day with my food choices, but I am obsessed
