What is all this 32fr bougie, 37 fr, etc?

Dear Dr.Alvarez,
I had my surgery just this Sunday the 25th March.
I am bit upset because i was able to drink 500 ML water with 1 gulp and was just bit uncomfortable but was fine..!
i remember asking him to use 32FR bougie but he refused and insisted on using 36FR Bougie..BTW my height is 6'1 ft
this indicates that my surgeon didn’t do proper job  am really disappointed if am going to fix this then am going for a revision for something that might be more risk i.e MGB

1- Dr. said he will use 36FR but he said he certain that it turn exactly 37FR.
I tried to ask him to get me 32FR, he refused and said I have treated thousands of patients and I know the "Know How" inside out..
2- He said he will start cuting 3 cm from exist of the stomach..in away it will compensate for size of Bougie

Thanks alot for your informative posts & question of the week remarks.
I asked my Dr. to use 32 Bougie for my surgery
But my Dr. response is that he follows International consensus and uses standard exactly 37 FR Bougie size for all his patients consistently and he told me that he will cut about 3 cm from pylorus (exit of stomach). 37 FR used to avoid complications such as tightness, Acid Reflux etc… Also he won’t sew and uses staple line only and he would sew only if there is apparent problem/leak
1- My concern is how can I convince him to use 32 Bougie? Or will I be satisfied with 37 FR and just go with surgery…… I dont want to be frustrated in 3 years if I regain some weight and think about revision

2- Will aeropics such as Pilattes and abdomenal work outs cause Hernia ?

Thanks for your reply Dr Alvarez. I've just found out that a 32 French Bougie was used on me. Would you say this has left me with the usual size stomach? I'm still losing gradually. My total loss has been 60lb since mid November. I have to say that I love this sleeve and wish I'd had surgery years ago

Hi Dr Alvarez. I wonder if you can help me. Can you tell me what can be the worst or most a sleeved person could expect to stretch the new stomach if they don't stick to the rules? Someone told me they had asked a surgeon and was told 3%. It seems such a small amount that I felt I needed to ask you.

Hola Dr A! Just got back from 2 weeks at an all inclusive in Cuba and stepped on the scale this morning to find I lost 8 lbs while there and hit 75 lbs lost! BTW, you did such a great job nobody noticed my scars - I was able to wear a 2 piece swimsuit! Will forever be greatful to you and your team.
