You are so sweet to check on me! I'm feeling great thanks! Went a week where I only lost a couple of pounds and felt a little cheated. I just wish it would all be gone already! lol But, I guess I didn't put it on overnight and it isn't going anywhere overnight. Your day is almost here! Woohoo! I know you must be excited! How was your Christmas? I hope you have a safe and happy New Year. Thanks again for checking on me and please keep in touch!

Thank you for your kind words. I can tell you for a certainty that the further you go in your journey, you'll see that the issues I raise and solutions I offer are really based on the old saying, "keep it simple stupid". The problem with doctors in the states is that they really over complicate issues. In my opinion, there is zero need for a nutritionist for this procedure. Unless a nutritionist is fully vetted on the procedure and has a lot of success in their "stable" of patients, then they are about as qualified to discuss your dietary needs with you as a Martian would be.

Every person is unique and as such, their nutritional needs will be different. There is no way on God's green earth that there can be a "one size fit all" approach to post op nutrition. It can't exist. My opinion, and the opinion of many just like me, is that you need to force your body to heal in order to make it heal properly. Experimenting with different combinations of foods and supplements is the key. If you'll read through the posts on here that deal with folks freaking out over their weight loss stalling after a couple of months, you'll see that almost 100% of them are being treated by a stateside surgeon and the dreaded nutritionist.

The folks like me who were sleeved in Mexico and then left to take responsibility for our own recovery, almost to a person, lose 100% of the weight they want to. Go take a look and see if I'm not right.

Everything went smooth. The pre op went well, the surgery went well and so far recovery is going well. Just wish it was spring time so that I can go outside and walk. I will most likely go to the gym in the next couple of days and do some light walking on the treadmill! Hope your surgery goes as well as mine. I can't get in a lot of protein or water but thats to be expected the first couple of weeks.

I'm doing well. I'm and admin on two very large support groups on Facebook so I come here every once and a while to take a break. My surgery is Thursday so I'm super excited.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I often feel they're rather silly, but either way I want to make notes concerning this crazy whirlwind of a journey we're on! Hang in there too and the best is yet to be! Have a nice night!

Thank you!!! The cough is bad today, but I'm sure it will get better. I'm bringing powdered protein shake mix with me in pre-measured amounts. I might bring my malt'o meal, too, just for kicks and giggles. I have relatives in Chicago, so my aunt is picking up some Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt, lactose free skim milk, and cheddar-jack reduced fat cheese sticks. I will have a fridge in my hotel room to store these items. Other than that, I will order soup while at a restaurant.

Three Years Ago Today!

by kenson on 01-13-2017 at 10:07 AM
Today is my three year surgiversary! I cannot believe that it has been three years since I had my gastric sleeve surgery. My life has changed exponentially! I am no longer a hermit, staying in the house. I am out in the world, traveling (recently returned from Dubai), meeting friends and really enjoying my life. As I said in previous blogs, I decided that I would follow what my surgeon and his team told me to do to the letter. I really think that’s why I have not had any problems. As my surgeon

Two Years Out!

by kenson on 01-12-2016 at 08:51 AM
Tomorrow marks my second anniversary since I had my gastric sleeve surgery. I am in shock that this time has arrived already. My life has changed exponentially since my surgery. A little background. Like many, I had struggled with my weight my entire life. I had tried many diets, worked out and was a faithful Weight Watchers member for 10+ years. I lost 50 pounds with WW twice. At some point, WW stopped working for me. I continued going to meetings because it was such a big part of my life,

One Year Ago Today

by kenson on 01-13-2015 at 10:01 AM
One year ago today I had my gastric sleeve surgery. Once I made up my mind to have the surgery, I did not let anyone or anything try to change my mind. My cousin, who had the surgery the previous August, came from CT, and drove me to the hospital. She stayed with me the entire time and has been my biggest supporter and cheerleader. As I type this, I cannot believe how much my life has changed. My starting weight was 240 pounds. I was becoming a recluse. I didn’t want to be around my friends,

It's Been Awhile!

by kenson on 10-27-2014 at 06:30 PM
Where has the time gone? I have no idea. Its been a wonderful ride, that I can tell you. Not too much to report other than I am still loving my sleeve. Thankful that I was allowed to have this surgery. I have been given my life back and it gets no better than that! My current stats are: starting weight 240, current weight is 161. My personal goal is 155, but honestly, if I don't get there, I am just fine right where I am.

I continue to follow the guidelines outlined by my NUT and

Six Month Appointment--I Got Another Award!

by kenson on 07-21-2014 at 07:13 PM
Hi All,
I had my six month appointment today. I am down 61 pounds total! I received another keychain. This is a silver one for losing 20% of my weight. My doctor is so pleased with my progress. He said that I am doing tremendously well. Getting sleeved is THE BEST thing that I have ever done in my life, hands down. It has given me back my life. I feel better in every aspect of my life physically and emotionally.

I spoke with the NUT. I always get concerned when I hear
