Hello fellow JW! How have you been doing since your surgery? I recently decided to get back into getting swing of getting the surgery. I had backed out in January cause I had a bad dream that I went bald and my hair is the only thing I love about myself. But my sister is having the surgery on Wednesday and so I'm gonna go ahead and join her. Any thoughts?

Well, all is good so far. Yesterday was chaotic and they ended up doing me and two other girls that were schedule for today. I feel good so far. Had my surgery at midnight. out at 1am. Advice...walk a ton~when you feel gas..raise arms above head and try to burp=throat burp. I have not experience any nausea so far...but I have not had any more pain killers since hour before the surgery. I don't like the side effects of pain killers! Doctors, nurses, workers...all really nice and helpful! You wi;; do fine

I was just checking for others scheduled on the 9th as well. We are the only two that have posted for the 9th so far. I guess we are it! Haha! I took my laxative earlier today. Works better for me. Liquid diet easier today. I sure hope you get out flying stand=by earlier. Excited to pack tomorrow! Have a great evening.

Thanks for the tip. My concerns are the same regarding the luggage & how I will feel traveling after the surgery. I have been using the Pure Protein Shakes from Costco, a lot of decaf coffee and water! I have not been hungry at all or tired. I have been shoveling snow all day with my husband. I am sure I will collapse this evening! Maybe you need more protein? So sorry to hear about your uncle. I work closely with hospice~specialize in alzheimers and dementia patients. All of my experiences with hospice have been just wonderful. Truly amazing nurses and care-givers. I hope the rest of his journey goes well and peaceful. Not to change the subject, but what time of day do you think we should take the laxative tomorrow? I was planning in the am for obvious reasons. Are you nervous yet? Have you met anyone else that shares our same surgery date online? I am getting very excited. My husband is having a hard time with all of this. He is so scared something bad will happen since we are going to be in Mexico! He wants to be there, but I think it is best I go alone. With five children at home, I just don't want to worry about everyone while I am trying to focus on my health! Kind of sounds a little selfish on my part. Thanks for keeping me posted.

Good ideas! Adding Chapstick, safety pin and a heating pad. I am bringing a pillow as well (good for traveling). What is the brand of the herbal tea? When I called them yesterday, she made it pretty clear that we probably won't meet our protein goals the first week or so! I am trying to figure out if I should just travel with carry~on bags or check in a bag. Just worried about the return trip! I have a lay-over~~so probably should have a rolling carry-on to keep my supplies handy! They say not to bring too much. I hope your first liquid pre-op day goes well!

Hi Kathy! Starting my pre-op diet in the am!!!! Have you started liquids yet? Getting excited! What time did they say they would pick you up at the airport? I am arriving at 11:30am and to be picked up at noon. Maybe we will meet up at the airport. I have a 19,17,15 and 11 year old~Boys! My only daughter just turned 10! My final meal was a Greek Salad~ my favorite! Looks like Protein Shakes and Lots of drinks for the next few days! Are you taking anything special for the surgery? From the blogs, I am taking Gas-X strips, alcohol wipes and Crystal Light packets. If you have some other suggestions....let me know. I will be sure to stock up. Keep thinking positively!

I am having food funerals as well! I was advised to pre-op for 3 days. I am pretty sure I will start early too. I was comparing the duration of pre-op diets from other doctors in the states with compatible patient BMI's~ and I feel 3 days is not enough. Going to start possibly 5 days out. Very excited!! By the way, My name is Robyn~46~Married with 5 children ages (10-19). I'm trying to look at this as a mini~vaca! Thinking positive.
