Hi there, sorry I just saw this. Not sure how I missed it. I'm going for my sleeve next Wednesday the 8th. My husband had the sleeve last yr. neither if us were told to lose weight prior although I'm sure they wouldn't oppose to it. I've read the pre-op diets helps with the weight loss prior but I couldn't speak to it. Maybe take it in baby steps? I wish you the best of luck! Sorry I'm not much help to you.

Hello! I am almost done with the second month of my three month program - I have one more med appointment and one more nutrition class, and then everything gets submitted to insurance at the end of November. Pending insurance approval and any possible setbacks with the holidays I'm looking at January 8th for surgery! The only other thing I need to do preoperatively is an EGD in December.

Preop weight loss is going okay...I start my "official" two week diet on Christmas day (I think), but the nurse practitioner told me to lose a few pounds beforehand, simply because a BMI of over 50 has the possibility of more surgical risks. I've lost 9 pounds since I started my program, I'd like to lose at least 15.

I'm doing well just can't wait to have surgery the 28th but I have an 1000calorie diet I have to do which isn't as bad as a liquid diet but still kinda hard. I have to drink two to three protein shakes and eat one to two really small and healthy meals.

Hey Libby, I took 2 weeks off from work and could have went back sooner but I already took the days off and I was still pretty tired. That has been the worst thing for me. I am pretty exhausted when I get home. I guess with what little bit you can eat you don't have a ton of energy. I have had no problems at all since surgery. My recovery has been perfect with no issues. If you have any questions I am on here almost everyday and I don't mind if you message me. Glad to help. Good luck on your journey!
