  1. Oh I so sorry to hear that. Did you take medicine when you had your sleeve for gallstones ? Dr put me right on meds, twice a say. What were your symtoms ? I'm really sorry you have go through this. Protein has been hard for me too, I've been drinking milk when ever I can. Try to get one premier protien a day , but it's hard taste so rich and hurts my stomach... Today I started on Stage 3 , I made homemade pinto beans they turned out so good. I can only eat about 4 tablespoons, I didn't want to go out to a restaurant they put too much fat.
Anyway I just wanted to see how you were doing. You hang in there okay

Okay I guess. Gallbladder surgery still hurts. I'm struggling with protein. It all taste awful. The best I can do is 1 a day. I'm trying to get protein elsewhere. I'm still on pureed. I'm trying not to be impatient. I know I'm recovering from 2 major surgeries. I felt I was doing great until the second one. Now it's hard to eat or drink. Only positive is I know I'm not dehydrated because every time I go to ER, they pump me full of liquids. This to shall pass. I get up every morning and try again. Thanks for asking!
  3. Oh my gosh Denise you are in Rocklin I was wondering if there was anyone on here from Roseville. I'm doing good so far , had a 3'day stay in the hospital before coming home, got sick from that morphine stuff.
But so far so good. Little behind getting all the 74 oz water down. I'm just taking it slow, I actually made my husband a nice dinner tonight , and homemade banana bread, that was challenging for me. Didn't touch one bite, didn't lick the beaters lol...'it was ok I was proud of myself...
I dicided to go back to work next Monday . Staying in the house is driving me crazy, I'm still very sore but I have a desk job should be okay. The one thing that's been the hardest is crushing all my victim ins and meds, I saw some people on here didn't have to . But I called today just to make sure, they said yes I needed to for 41 days they just want to make sure my system can handle it. I had my surgery at Kaiser South Sac. Roseville Kaiser doesn't give sleeves as of yet. Wish I could attend classes there. How are you?!

I just realized you were in Roseville! I live in Rocklin. How are you doing? Did you have your surgery at Kaiser or Sutter? I've had a rough time. Not really with the sleeve, but first with my gallbladder, it went bad and I had emergency surgery on day 13 post-op, then I've had to make 2 ER visits for my heart. Wish I could just focus on recovering from one thing. Oh well, it will pass.
How are you doing on your food plan?
  5. Well congrats to you. One thing I think helped me was to prepare myself way before my actual surgery. I followed my Drs, neutrishionist, surgeon advice to the T. They told me I needed to get up and walk right away, as hard as it is Do it! Take the pain meds , use ice packs.'drink your water and fluids just like they say. At first I was like, oh wow this hurts. I had a Super Nurse who really helped me. Normal stay was one day, I stayed 3 . Reason is I was so weak , got sick from the fluids, meds. I began to realize it was the pain meds that was making me so,sick. I stopped taking them. I used children's grape (taste yummy) tylonal it helped me a lot, plus I had thee ice packs on 24 hours for the first 5-8'days. I had a pain in my shoulder like times dislocated walking and ice helped me. It went away after 3 days.
Right now I'm still on stage 2. I'm taking it show , not worth the risks ... For breakfast I have gerber rice cereal made with my premier protein, or i will have Cream of wheat . Lots low sodium chicken broth. I stay away from beef. Sugar free jello, cream soups and lots of yogurt... I did find a cream soup it's orange tomato soup I make it with a little water .... Between meals I have my protein drinks.. Drink lots of water as much as I can. Gets better everyday!! This is soooo worth it! Everyday I feel a little better, I can see my weight coming off little by little.
    Hope this helps

I'm doing well. How has your recovery been? My surgery date is 4/7, just two weeks from today! I'd love to hear any tips you may have.
  7. Ok I'll try more broths, the sugar free pop cycles are too sweet. Gonna have to find another brand. When did you have surgery ? How much did you walk everyday? I'm large busted and I think maybe I need to wear a bra the right wide is putting pressure on my large wound. Thank you for replying it helps me .... Congrats to you
  8. you can do it!!
  9. Hey Kimmy,
I am so sorry you are having a hard time with recovery. I didn't have too much trouble with liquids as long as I took small sips. The thicker liquids are harder, and I don't get as much in, but the thin broths and juice are fairly easy. I have been off pain meds for 4 days now and only have slight soreness on occasion. I wad amazed at how much better I felt as the days have passed. I know that things are different for everyone, but I have faith that it will get better for you soon!
  10. I've completed all my tests lost 26 pounds needed before surgery, went on vac to see my son, with the holidays I gained some weight back . I'm still two pds over my goal weight. I have appt with Sara in two days to schedule my surgery but I have to be at my goal weight... I'm trying everything to lose this two pounds...
    Any suggestions ??

Need a really good Protein Drink?

by kimmysmitt on 03-30-2014 at 03:41 PM
I had trouble getting protein in. Everything tasted terrible, made me sick ...
Then I found this Pure Protein Shake, frosted Choclotate... In one small container has 23 grams protien, 5 grams fiber, 120 cal. 1gram sugar. It's a little rich for me, I pour half out, save for next one. Fill the rest can up with milk. Best Chocolate milk I ever had . Taste like a milkshake , I even blend it up with yogurt for dinner add ice. Give it a try you won't be disappointed
