- Sleeved or not sleeved:
- I have had a gastric sleeve.

- I'm ready to get this started! What can I say that hasn't been said a thousand times? I've been overweight since childhood and have battled my weight for as long as I can remember. I wasn't really ready to consider surgery since I saw it as "cheating". But, I realized that I am cheating myself of a life if I stay the way I am. I have done an overhaul on my life emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It is time to get this body to match the rest of me! I am a single parent and I want to be the BEST mom possible for my daughter and this surgery is going to help me get there!

I'm sleeved! That's the good news.
Bad news...I'm still having trouble with gas pain and getting protein and liquid in. But, I've been taking GasX, Pepcid, Zofran and pain meds...getting there.
FUTURE SLEEVERS:
I don't think I really understood how much pain I would potentially be in. Some people don't experience much, but HOLY SMOKES! Just be prepared for 10/10 on the pain scale. At least, that's how it was for me. I was regretting surgery for a while.

I know it has been too long since I have posted anything here! I have a TON to talk about.
Okay, so on September 30th, I scheduled my surgery for Nov. 12th with Dr. Kim at Victory Medical Center. Then, October 1st, I got a call saying my insurance wouldn't cover that center because it was out of network... I had to reschedule my surgery, change hospitals and change surgeons. I was incredibly stressed out that day! I had quit smoking 10 days before that and we started using a new

Okay...so It's only been 3 days, but this is the longest I've ever stopped smoking in 8 years! Today is day 4 and I'm feeling great. I'm a little dizzy and a little chest pain, but have discussed it with my doctor and he said that's kind of part of quitting. Each day gets easier. I thought about cigarettes all day for the first two days. Yesterday, I hardly though about them at all and today...no cravings so far! I'm proud of me!!!

I am required by my doctor to quit smoking at least 1 month before my surgery. Not just stop smoking....NO nicotine. So, my brother has an electronic cigarette and said they have stuff without nicotine. I went to my corner gas station for my last pack of cigarettes and asked the guy what he though about the "e-cigs". He asked why and I explained that I was having elective surgery...he figured it out. He said, "Why surgery?? Have you tried exercise? That works really well!"

Is this a test in patience or what? It has only been 2 weeks since I went in for my consultation, but it feels like it has been 2 months. I go for my psychological evaluation tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty confident about it. I have seen this psychiatrist before for other issues and we had talked about having the surgery earlier this year. She is also a colleague of the doctor I work for, so IF she charges me, I won't pay very much (BLESSING!). Then, my stress test is on the 19th.
