  1. Hi Linda:
Good to see the progress continues on your journey.
I am 12 days out and doing pretty well - Dr. post op on Friday told me recovery going well - released me to soft foods and I am down 14# since surgery and 45# since early January.
I am still afraid to eat almost - for fear I will eat too much - which I don't know is even possible at this point. I had 3 1/2 cups of food yesterday and felt really full - but it felt good to eat more normally. I think that food and I will always have this battle.
    hugs,
    Kathy
  2. Hi Linda:
Thank you for answering my question. One thing came out to me is that I am grateful to see your statistics. It is encouraging to see that you started out basically where I am now with my surgery only days away. I can't believe that you lost as much as you have so quickly. Hopefully my body will be as good as yours has been. I am impressed with your weight loss. I will have to rethink my posting as least here on the gastricsleeve.com support group. Hmmm - lots of thoughts. It is also really interesting to know that by sharing you have brought others to consider this procedure. Thank you for your candidness.
    Hugs,
    Kathy

Hi Linda, sorry it's taken me a couple of days to get back to you. I hope you're doing ok and not in any pain? I've got the Roadside Lemonade Syntrax Nectar and it's ok. I can't get any samples in the uk, so just as well as I've bought enough to last me a while. I've lost 26Ibs since the pre op diet that started on the 29th October. Not bad in 3 weeks. Take care, Cathy x

hi linda, Well i think i finally figured out how to accept friend requests.just catching up with this conversation so now that a few days have passed, hopefully you are feeling better. i am feeling better today, but the gas pains get to me too. I have the Syntax Fuzzy Navel nectar and it is good. I add some coconut flavoring or lemon and also mix with milk for a creamy change.
  10. My days have been up and down. I am trying to not use very much pain killers. I had a shower today and that felt great. Cathyem let me know what you think of the Syntrax Nectar, I was thinking of getting some. I weighed myself today and I am up 4 pounds over what I was going into the hospital. But I am still really bloated so i kind of expected it. I find it easier to get in the protein over the water. I find i am getting really gassy from the water, it feels like i am swallowing air when i am drinking water.

Linda, how are you feeling today? I'm still in quite a bit if pain, and pushing to get protein and fluids in.

Hi Linda. It sounds like you're getting on really well I'm home too and having little discomfort. I'm on clear liquids for the first week then full for the second. I'm not getting protein in yet, but have some Syntrax Nectar I want to try. I'll ask my bariatric provider if I can have some tomorrow. Take care and please keep me updated. Cathy x

Here's what I can tell you: you'll likely go thru buyers remorse for the first 4 days but it goes away! Lol. Make sure you keep the drain site as clean and sterile as possible - 2 of my fellow sleevers I went with have an infection in that site. I've been lucky. And walk!!! The gas is 90% of the pain! Are you in Tijuana? If so buy the fast pass. Hope you're doing well;-)

3 month surgiversary!!

by lgutenberg on 02-13-2014 at 12:07 AM
Today is officially three months since my vgs surgery. 1 am down 99 pounds from my highest weight, and lost 16 pounds this last month. I saw my surgeon today for my 3 month checkup and he is calling me his rockstar!! So far along with 99 pounds, I have lost Diabetes, Hypertension, and now high cholesterol. With my latest labs, I am no longer considered a Diabetic. My blood sugar levels have been awesome and my blood pressure was 120/70 on no meds. I am now on 6 less prescription drugs than

2 month update

by lgutenberg on 01-12-2014 at 09:14 PM
It has now been two months since surgery. I have lost a total of 83 pounds, and 43 pounds since surgery day. I am very happy with my progress so far and the way that I have changed my eating habits since surgery. I am so blessed to be surrounded by a number of people from my family to coworkers and friends who are very supportive of me. I have now learned how to eat my protein first, and am balancing my meals and water intake to get 70 grams of protein daily and 2 litres of water in between

Day 5

by lgutenberg on 11-17-2013 at 06:49 PM
Since getting home I have been sleeping in my lazyboy recliner, but last night I decided that I would try and sleep in my bed upstairs. Unfortunately, it is too soon, and I could not sleep on my side. I had heard from others that sleeping on your left side will help the gas to dissipate, and I am still quite bloated. Unfortunately, it is too painful to sleep on either side, and sleeping on my back in my bed is too hard on my back and knees. So, off to the lazy boy I head at 4:00am after 4 hours

At Home Now

by lgutenberg on 11-14-2013 at 07:06 PM
I got home yesterday afternoon. My lazy boy is my friend, much easier to get out of than my bed. I'm able to get out by myself, and am walking around the house. Passing gas at both ends!! I am finding it hard to stand up straight, I want to hunch over as it feels like I am pulling on my stomach when I straighten up. It gets better every time I stand up. I am off all my drugs except my cholesterol drugs and am checking my blood sugar 4 x per day and sending the results to my diabetic nurse.

After surgery

by lgutenberg on 11-12-2013 at 11:56 PM
Surgery is over and I have been in my room since 1pm. I have had a pretty good day, no nausea and the pain is under control mostly with plain Tylenol 325 every 4 hours. Only had 2 doses of oxycodone, one right after leaving post op and one just before 9pm. Walked around the ward every couple of hours today. Spent most of the day sitting in the chair. Skyped and face timed with my kids and sisters. My hubby sent an email out to our friends and family after surgery to spread the news everything
