Today is officially three months since my vgs surgery. 1 am down 99 pounds from my highest weight, and lost 16 pounds this last month. I saw my surgeon today for my 3 month checkup and he is calling me his rockstar!! So far along with 99 pounds, I have lost Diabetes, Hypertension, and now high cholesterol. With my latest labs, I am no longer considered a Diabetic. My blood sugar levels have been awesome and my blood pressure was 120/70 on no meds. I am now on 6 less prescription drugs than
It has now been two months since surgery. I have lost a total of 83 pounds, and 43 pounds since surgery day. I am very happy with my progress so far and the way that I have changed my eating habits since surgery. I am so blessed to be surrounded by a number of people from my family to coworkers and friends who are very supportive of me. I have now learned how to eat my protein first, and am balancing my meals and water intake to get 70 grams of protein daily and 2 litres of water in between
Since getting home I have been sleeping in my lazyboy recliner, but last night I decided that I would try and sleep in my bed upstairs. Unfortunately, it is too soon, and I could not sleep on my side. I had heard from others that sleeping on your left side will help the gas to dissipate, and I am still quite bloated. Unfortunately, it is too painful to sleep on either side, and sleeping on my back in my bed is too hard on my back and knees. So, off to the lazy boy I head at 4:00am after 4 hours
I got home yesterday afternoon. My lazy boy is my friend, much easier to get out of than my bed. I'm able to get out by myself, and am walking around the house. Passing gas at both ends!! I am finding it hard to stand up straight, I want to hunch over as it feels like I am pulling on my stomach when I straighten up. It gets better every time I stand up. I am off all my drugs except my cholesterol drugs and am checking my blood sugar 4 x per day and sending the results to my diabetic nurse.
Surgery is over and I have been in my room since 1pm. I have had a pretty good day, no nausea and the pain is under control mostly with plain Tylenol 325 every 4 hours. Only had 2 doses of oxycodone, one right after leaving post op and one just before 9pm. Walked around the ward every couple of hours today. Spent most of the day sitting in the chair. Skyped and face timed with my kids and sisters. My hubby sent an email out to our friends and family after surgery to spread the news everything
