Still doing well but am struggling with head hunger. I am not physically hungry but I want to eat/chew real food!!

Surgery went well. Had it on Dec 17th and came home the 18th. My sips are going great but the pain on the left side really stinks and so does the air in my shoulder. It hurts so bad sometimes I just want to scream!!!

My teacher friends do not know and just kept telling me good job. One thing though, only my husband and daughters knew about the surgery for almost a year now and recently I was sitting in my hospital bed with in-laws visitors and in walks a random doctor to ask me a couple of questions and POW! Stupid doctor mentions gastrectomy. Cats out of the bag and I am so devastated I am beside myself.

Trying to wait patiently for insurance improval. Incredibly nervous that I will be denied. I have approx 10 more days to wait...my ins likes to take the full 30 days I hear to respond. Uggg

I had my initial visit with my surgeon on Oct 10 and it went very well. He gave me a tentative surgery date of Dec. 17. I have my nutrition class tomorrow and on Wed I have to have an upper GI. A littler nervous on that because I have no idea what that procedure entails. I am getting excited but nervous that this dream wont come true. In the last couple of weeks I have informed my 4 siblings of my impending surgery and my 4 closest girlfriends whom I have known forever - all through email since they all live at least an hour away and didnt want to make all those phone calls. My big hold up is my coworkers. I am a teacher so I will be taking 4 days off right before Xmas break and will miss our staff xmas party due to being on the pre liquid diet by then. What are your thoughts on telling my teacher friends? We all work so closely and they are going to notice my sudden weight loss. I almost feel like sending an email to all of them.
