Yes I have thank you : ) I am just over 4 weeks post op & doing quite well. Weight is falling off at a tremendous rate. Mostly really happy but there are moments of sheer panic every so often. I was at my sons the other week & everyone sat down to a plateful of roast meat & veggies which looked & smelled amazing .. (I was still on puréed food )... I was okay with that but I did think 'I am never going to be able to sit down to a nice plateful of food again' & it made me feel quite sad.
I know that the need for smaller quantities of food was a huge factor for me for having the sleeve because I knew it would force me to eat small meals & more often but the reality of how small at the moment (5 - 7 tspn) is a bit of a shock. There is no feeling of being just comfortable .. I am either feeling faint, have no energy & feeling really empty or the tummy is tight, & feeling uncomfortable... Sigh .. I think the reality of it all is hitting me at the moment & although all the positives far outweigh the negatives I am going through an emotional adjustment, which is difficult. Did you go through any of this stuff? How are you going now ?

    Hey there!

Thank you for checking on me! How were your holidays? Just got back from my cruise and the weeks prior to that were so hectic, I didn't visit this site at all! I am doing great. No more pain! One day I just woke up and it was gone but replaced with hip pain so bad i couldn't walk. My sticture turned out not to be a stricture at all. Doc said I just heal slower and started me all over to liquids only for another week. How have you been? Are you able to get in protein? Weight loss slowed down for about two weeks, mother nature, but I actually lost weight on my cruise!!

I had a nice one, too. It was a bit challenging with Christmas being on a Wednesday since my family flies to Chicago every year, but we were all together and that's what matters. I let myself have a few cookies. Amazing how cookies go down so much easier than meat, lol. That's awesome about the LB gift cards - helps out a lot since clothes are so expensive. My mom took me shopping in November and bought me work clothes (she rocks!). I have a bit of a dilemma in that I'm leaving for a cruise in a few days and I am trying to not spend much on clothing since whatever "summer" attire I buy now won't fit me in the summer and won't be seasonably appropriate once I get back. I'm going through all my drawers and cabinets trying to scrounge up a wardrobe of my smaller clothing from days gone by, lol! Happy New Year, Sarah! We are going to rock out 2014...I just know it! =)

I don't think I saw this before about the smart water. After surgery it helped me a lot. The surgeon suggested it. Its heavier than water therefore goes through the sleeve. I am a believer. I can drink regular water now but not like I used to.

Thank you, sweet Sarah! I'm glad I didn't listen to my mom. She wanted me to take pics once a month, but I thought 3 months would be more telling of results. How are ya? Did you have a Merry Christmas?

A week or 2 ago. Was getting them at Vitamin Shoppe, but ordered 3 boxes off the internet last week. The chocolate mint and triple chocolate are amazing. They're about 200 cal per so you'll have to work them in, but I'm struggling to get to 1000 calories\day so it's actually helping me get closer, (still about 200 short even with the "cookie" most days). I've actually been losing better since going on solids\increasing my calories a bit.

You and me both, lady! I'm so very bad about the water. I even carry a bottle filled with half water and half 15 calorie juice and just flat out forget to drink it. Then when I remember, I want to gulp it down so bad, but we both know that gulping only hurts. So annoying, lol! Congrats on your 40 lbs, Sarah! Don't you just love being lighter on your feet! I find I have less pain getting out of bed in the mornings...maybe it wasn't all old age, hahaha!

Hey lady! How are YOU doing? I am 99.9% certain my issues with meat are as a result of my issues with eating fast and not properly chewing. Whenever I take my time I'm usually home free. It's just hard when I've eaten rapidly my whole life to slow it down so severely. So good to hear from you!!! =)

    Hey Sarah!

Hope you are doing well! You were correct, the pain does get better. Slightly, but better never the less!

Are you suuuure this soreness leaves. I just can't see how my stomach muscles will ever get back.... I just want to bend and get out of bed on my own. How are you today? Are you able to get your liquids in? I see how hard it is. Hope all is well!

Long term results

by SarahBear on 05-06-2014 at 10:15 PM
Hi everyone.
My surgeon said something that concerned me. He said something about not losing weight more than a year out from surgery. This really concerns me. I still have a lot of weight to lose and I'm just over 6 months out from surgery. Will my weight loss stop after a year? It would be devastating to me if I've had this surgery and I'm still fat because my weight loss stops.

Has anyone lost weight after a year?

Atkins diet

by SarahBear on 05-05-2014 at 05:03 PM
Hi everyone,
I know I haven't posted in awhile, but I've been busy finishing my Masters degree. Anyway, I was wondering if your surgeon/nutritionist severely restricts your carb intake. Mine wants us to consume less than 20 carbs a day. I was doing well with that, but I occasionally allow myself a low-carb tortilla, a few bites of potatoes, or something similar. I have been craving cereal, oatmeal, and noodles, but those are off limits. I have allowed myself a cookie here and there or
