Hi kim. Sorry I haven't been around lately. Very busy , but all is well. I am only 25 lbs away from my goal of 150 and I am so happy with my sleeve and my life. It is amazing how "everything" looks and feels better when you are looking better and feeling better about yourself. Hope everything is great with you. Let me know how you are doing and how the sleeve is working for you. All the best, Shirley

I'm feeling great. I understand how your activity on here dwindles as your life gets busy. Sine surgery my activity levels have increased 10 fold. Today I'm starting a 30 day hot yoga challenge. From your post I can tell you have many wonderful things going on in your life. Take care.

I do have to share a funny though, back to munchkin land. Cleveland Clinic is a teaching hospital with students/drs in training there from all over the world. Anyway - I awoke my first morning there, still in pain, not exactly sure where I was, and there were 5 little men (of Middle Eastern descent) and one more American looking dr. not much taller saying "can we see your belly please?" I feel like the book of Oz was re-written - did anyone ever ask Dorothy to show them her belly? This funny scene was repeated each morning with a slightly different crew each time.
Well, I am going to go back to bed for awhile - most of my friends are getting ready for Church, my husband is at work, and my pain meds have made me a bit more comfortable - so I am going to take advantage of this quiet time and pamper myself - yawn - back to Oz and the poppy fields - yawn - hope you are having a happy day!

It is amazing how quickly they break down your inhibitions in the situation we were in. We come in well dressed and covered and in minutes they have us in hospital gowns naked as a jay bird. For the next 4-5 days you walk the hallways trying to make sure your behind doesn't show and you have to be careful getting in and out of bed so that other things don't show as well. Then, I awoke in the middle of the night and must have broken out in a sweat because my gown was soaked. I needed to change into another gown - and this cute young man who was my aide that night (all of 23-25 years of age) came in with the gown and told me that he would help me change. I being Mrs. Private Person, said, Oh - than't ok I can handle it. And he smiled and reminded me that I had all of the wires/etc from the heart monitor, two Iv's attached and a dressing on the side with the drain still attached. I needed to have the arms unsnapped and I couldn't reach the ties in back (did they make these gowns like this on purpose???). So . . . he was right, he had to help me! So there I am again, a fat, old lady sitting there with hanging boobs stark naked while I was being dressed by a cute young orderly - if I hadn't been hurting so bad, I would have been laughing - kinda reminded me of when I was delivering my son and everybody and his brother needed to "check me out" to see how dilated I was. You finally just stop caring who is looking at you.

(hmmmn - I need another page??)
  14. Hello Kim:
I am home now and recuperating. Had a rough week - and tried to stay positive - succeeded for the most part - but back to the Wizard of Oz analogy - "There's no place like home!"

I had a problem after the surgery - couldn't catch my breath in the recovery room and millions (of course exaggerated) of people came out of the woodwork thinking I was having a heart attack, which I of course wasn't. Looking at it from the point I am at now, I think that they hadn't set up my pain meds or hooked me up right away, but I really believe that the pain from the surgery attacked my pain system and it took my breath away. But as a result I had to wear a heart monitor the entire time I was in the hospital - AND they made me stay an extra day to make sure I was healing well.

(please continue below - they said my message was too long)

Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
Back in July 2009, it took me 11 months to lose 106 lbs doing the South Beach diet. In Nov 2010, I started putting it all back on after a series of problems in my life. I have struggled tremendously to find that kind of will power again and eventually gave up, ballooning to my highest weight ever. My family feels I am being too drastic deciding on WLS, but I can't wait for my journey to begin.

3 MONTHS POST-OP (with comparison pics)!

by Kimpossible318 on 12-16-2013 at 08:22 AM
So these past 3 months have come and gone in a whirl. It's insane!

I have discovered an application called "Monitor Your Weight" on my phone. It's pretty cool - you should check it out.

Basically, in 3 months I have lost 62.4 lbs. My BMI has gone from 56 to 45.9. I have lost 36% of the weight I want to lose in nearly 25% of the time I want to lose it. Not too shabby.

I am happy with my weight

10 weeks post-op UPDATE!

by Kimpossible318 on 11-25-2013 at 10:42 AM
I seriously cannot believe it has been 10 weeks already. I know they say time flies the older you get, but sheesh....maybe I need it to slow down a little.

Again, I apologize for not being as active on here as I was. This is the time of year where work gets a little cRaZy and my travel schedule gets ramped up. I just got into town last Tuesday night late and I leave again this coming Wednesday. Oy!

So here are my thoughts about being sleeved thus far:

Home, sweet home

by Kimpossible318 on 11-19-2013 at 11:45 PM
Remember me? Yeah, I know I've been M.I.A. lately.

Just returned home from a 9 day business trip to Chicago. I was incredibly busy throughout each and every day.

I missed my gastricsleeve.com peeps sooo much.

I will be working on posting my 2 month post-op blog ASAP.

Hope to catch up on all of you by the end of the week.

Take this phlegm and shove it, yo!

by Kimpossible318 on 11-07-2013 at 02:33 AM
Prior to my surgery...about 3 weeks prior, I got sick. It wasn't too be unexpected cuz I always come down with the same crud. I always try to self-medicate. I eventually figure out I can't and then I go to see the doctor. This time was different. I felt a sore throat pop up out of the blue on Tuesday. My FB friends were so kind to throw natural remedies my way from apple cider added to my water to honey in my tea, but I Nyquil'd myself just to get sleep and vowed to go to the doctor the next

6 Weeks Post Op!

by Kimpossible318 on 10-28-2013 at 06:25 AM
Okay, okay....I'll admit it. Since I moved back home (a week ago this past Sunday), I've stepped on the scale every day.

Some days there is no loss. Other days it's a pound. Today was a one-pounder which put me at 40 lbs lost! I couldn't be happier!

I had two kiddie birthday parties to attend this weekend. The first one, on Saturday, I ate a small piece of brisket with bbq sauce. The second one, I just sipped on my drink the whole time. After yesterday's party,
