Hi Yolanda - Things are going well. The first 4 days were tough, but I'm doing so so much better.....my wife keeps letting me know well I look. Pureed for is a welcome relief to a growling belly. Thanks for checking. B.J.

You should be given information about this by your surgeon. For me it was 400-600 calories for first 3 or 4 months, 600-800 calories until 6 months out, 800-1000 calories until 1 year out and then 1000-1200 calories for the rest of my life. Those are all with 40-60g, 60-80g, 80-100g, and 100-120g of protein daily.

Hello Jill, You must be happy to be home. Wow you had a rough time of it. Had your Doctor done many surgeries of this kind? Have you lost any weight/ Do you have someone at home to help you? I hope your feeling better?

I'm feeling so so. I had to have a drain tube put in for my liver because it had some infection in it but the biggest problem I had was that I didn't know I had sleep apnea. Well I also have asthma and get bronchitis a couple of times a year. So after the surgery I was having A LOT of breathing problems. That's why I ended up in I.C.U...They thought they were going to have to put a breathing tube in because my breathing would slip away whenever i would doze off and my carbon dioxide levels in my blood were way too high. So they took me off the pain med drip and let me wake up a little, kept a c pap machine on and did other breathing treatments and made me well enough to come home. I'm doing good. Just still having a lot of breathing problems. I sleep sitting up and do breathing treatments 3 times a day right now. Thought I had the beginnings of a staph infection but thankfully found out today that it was just an irritation to the bandage. I have to go to my reg doc on Thursday for my lungs so hopefully after they get my breathing better, I will be better lol. Sorry for such the long spill. Hope it all made sense and didn't just run together.
