  1. I also had alot of medical problems which was my major reason for having the surgery. I was type 2 diabetic insulin and pill . I had one insulin injection first nite of surgery, and have not had one shot since April 24th, my sugar has been around 90-100 daily, I was told at my 3 month appt I will have my blood work done for vitamins and sugar and will most likely be able to come off the glyburide. Sticking to the diet really is mindset, you can't binge eat, if u eat even 2 mouthfuls to many it will hurt or possibly for some come back up, you will find it much easier to follow than a standard diet is, I was very lucky, I truly had no tummy pain post surgery, I will always be honest, for me the only pain I had was from not knowing the drain can sometimes cause some folks to have left shoulder pain, I worried that my neck had been tipped to far back and injured a weak disc, when the anesthiaologist came to see me and I told him about it he said he was sorry he hadn't told me it may happen, he said its cause they have to move around near the diaphram and that can cause shoulder pain, soon as the drain was removed (2 days) the pain was totally gone. My friend weighs 400+ just had it done 2 wks ago was scared like you she has kidney disease and heart stuff too, but she breezed right through it and is feeling alot better she said she just started the vitamins.

    Hello everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am in the approval stage of Gastric Sleeve. I have all my clearance letter in and just had my nutrition class on yesterday. I am so nervous about this surgery. I am nervous about the pain, the ability to stick to the diet and all the possibility that could happen during the surgery. I have a lot of health issue going on and I wonder if they will make my recover time longer. I have lupus, Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and I had two strokes before and I am on a blood thinner. My Rheumatologist said to me he hope I don't have a stroke during this process. Scary comment I thought. I have been reading the message board and I see a lot of individual who had surgery one day and two days letter they are posting. So that give me a little comfort in maybe this surgery is not as bad as i think. Just a little scared but I am still moving forward. Thanks for letting me share.
