I had surgery the same day as you with the same doctor and a hiatal hernia, which I for sure knew about before hand. I have been feeling awesome until I got a head cold and it's been a real bummer. I have not had any nausea at all, but I too have trouble getting in all my protein and water. I sure do try though. I probably saw you when we were doing laps. I was ready to go home the next day, but they could not get my oxygen levels up. I have asthma so I know that played a part in it. I know I walked more laps at Lacks than I walked before the surgery. Keep up the good work!!
  2. You guys are so fabulous! Thanks for checking in on me! Surgery went better than expected. I was walking laps the day of surgery and eating ice chips! They were ready to send me home the next AM but severe nausea set in- it took 4 anti-nausea meds and IV steroids to get it under control but once it was gone it stayed gone...short price to pay I suppose. I am struggling to get in calories, water, and protein so I am exhausted. I have one bothersome incision (oddly, not the one my stomach came through) but that's getting better everyday too. They did fix a hiatal hernia that I didn't know about and that resulted in some substernal pressure but that's about it! The scale says I've lost 8 pounds since Monday- all muscle I'm sure, but either way I'll take it! Again, thanks so much for checking on me- it means the world to me! I can already tell this is one of the best decisions I've made!

1 week away from surgery!

by SKMI on 09-22-2013 at 03:21 PM
This week is going to be crazy busy so I know its going to be here before I know it but I'm feeling really anxious! Normal I'm sure! Anyone have any suggestions for what to bring to the hospital other than the obvious? Anything you know now that you wish you would've know then?

Prep

by SKMI on 09-15-2013 at 08:06 PM
I start my surgical prep tomorrow. Two weeks of the nastiest food I have ever eaten in my life. I will stomach it for the two weeks until surgery though. I'm feeling really scared. When I talk with people who have had it does, I feel like I am absolutely making the right decision but now... I'm just feeling scared, anxious, nervous...really nervous! I cannot believe two weeks tomorrow is the day! Hard to believe this is the beginning of the end of being overweight.

Last "fat" holiday!

by SKMI on 09-01-2013 at 07:42 PM
Every year my husband family and our friends have a huge labor day party and I realized today this is my last "fat" holiday! While I am thrilled about this, I also am really scared about how close I have to my surgery date! 99% or the time I'm really excited but 1% of the time I am questioning if I am really going to go through with this. I am encouraged and inspired by the stories I read on here... I'm praying that that come March, I am the girl posting before and after pictures that
