Lora, Just looking at your pictures and reading your blog! I just want to tell you congratulations on all your hard work, you look fantastic. I have been on this journey for a little over 4 months and am almost down 70 lbs after starting at 273, and I am hoping and praying to reach 100 lbs off by 12 months. You are truly an inspiration for you attitude as much as for your weight loss, keep it up and thanks for posting!!
  9. Hey! How you holding up? Hope good! Been thinking of you and missing you! I've cussed John Hopkins out so many times telling them my feelings and all for them to continue to do absolutely nothing! So, my Health Ins changes eff Jan 1st with a different carrier so will be back to the drawing board some and will be picking another Hospital (hopefully with a much better staff who can actually get things done!) So, while I lost all hope in John Hopkins I haven't lost hope in doing this and praying for a thinner lifestyle and me! Keep prayers for me as I will you and know I think of you often! If anything I am thankful for just meeting you alone in all this Love ya!
  10. Sadly I will not see you there. Currently a little upset at John Hopkins and my Health Ins carrier being Cigna. John Hopkins didn't apparently submit in all the required paperwork liked they were supposed to so Cigna denied my surgery for right now. Now it has to be appealed apparently which is going to cause my surgery to take even longer in happening! Was so discouraged that I even cried!
  11. That is a crazy coincidence! How funny! You know I look at this as a early Birthday/Christmas present to myself this year as well, funny you mention that. Thank you ever so much and thanks for telling me about this site! xoxo
  12. It was such a pleasure meeting you last night at the Support Group. You're such an inspiration and it was so nice meeting someone who had this done as I felt all alone. I hope to become great friends! Love ya, Carrie (the one with all the tattoos, lol)

You look GREAT! What an inspiration you are to us all. Wishing you continued success.
  15. I'm glad you're excited!! I was too

Annapolis would put you in a metro area with plenty of jobs and near a ton of water, even if it's not the ocean, you're closer to it.

Keep me posted of your progress!! Much luck and success to you

1 year anniversary

by LoraG on 12-02-2013 at 09:44 PM
It's been 1 year, and 99lbs!!! I still can't believe it! Although I really wanted to reach that 100lb milestone...99 is close enough for me!

Along this journey I've realized that food IS NOT important, it's who you're sharing it with that matters. A support group is essential to your success. I'm still trying to figure out my "style"....at 35, doesn't that sound ridiculous!

Someone recently asked me if I notice that people talk to me more, and YES

Guidance

by LoraG on 10-22-2013 at 05:24 PM
I've seen a lot of posts from members that don't seem to have any guidance of what to do post-op and I'm concerned for them, and also for the hospital. This doesn't seem to be a comprehensive program for the patients, or very informative.

Because I've not been anywhere else but Hopkins, I'm not sure what the other programs do for you. At Hopkins you receive a folder that outlines all of your post-op instructions including what to eat, and when you're allowed. Liquid, Puree, Soft

Beach Vacation

by LoraG on 08-20-2013 at 10:29 PM
Just got back from our beach vacation this year and WOW what a difference! I was not self-conscious of how I looked on the beach and I didn't feel like people were looking at me or judging me. I was excited to get on that beach everyday and enjoy the ocean and sunshine with my family.

We were walking everywhere and all day long and it was GREAT! I can't wait to do it again. I wasn't complaining about heat or humidity (this was my biggest complaint about summer pre-op) Every

Gratitude

by LoraG on 08-06-2013 at 10:34 PM
Looking at my before/after photos made me realize how grateful I am for the sleeve. Really grateful for this tool to enable me to be the "me" I always thought I was.

Never in my wildest imagination would I dream that I would weigh less than 200 lbs.

Never would I have imagined that I would REALLY LOSE 84lbs!! Before this it had been IMPOSSIBLE for me to lose anymore than 10-15lbs without gaining it back.

This has really changed ME and I'm
