hiya! you and I are on the same boat! it's frustrating at this point. But, as you, I know exactly what I'm doing wrong. The worst part is that tax season just started and this has always been a really stressful and crazy time for me and the = eating very poorly! I didn't weight myself this past wednesday. I think I had lost about 2 lbs since the week prior but I'm sure I messed that up. I'm going to weigh in again next wednesday. I'm also sick so I haven't been able to work out. once this upper respiratory infection clears up, i'm getting back to the gym! I'll let you know my weight this next wednesday. You hang in there! We can do this!
  4. it could take a couple years to completely be smooth chin. i go like 4 times a year and i should be going twice a month so i m ay be at this forever ; ) once the hair is killed it's dead but that only kills the one hair in that one follicle in that one growth phase so it's seemingly neverending.. : ) try shaving. i know it sounds crazy but it's a complete myth that it affects growth or thickness. it just feels rougher bc it's stubble. but my lady made me promise to shave not pluck bc she said plucking was bad for reasons i cant remember. i think it kept the root bed alive or something nuts. anyway google it if you're curious. goodluck ! gordit a

I have PCOS so I have issues with chin hair and I'm dark, I have had laser which was great but still have to tweezer like mad, I'm hoping the weight loss will help ! I live in UK but we have been to Florida a few times, our favourite place, my aunt lives in fort Myers 6 months of the year and my parents go and visit her every year xxx
  6. i live in tampa (fl). it's like 50ish here. people are still jogging andbike riding in shorts : )
  7. im SO glad you checked in. it's been nuts at work today and i temporarily forgot our deal. i have done great on teh no grazing (no grazing at all since is started 30day challenge) but like you have made some less than optimal nutritional choices SOOOO i'm down 1.4 from wed to wed. (im also on day 2 of my period so crossing fingers that is slightly affecting my #)but either way i want to see like 4lbs a week as reward for my no grazing. just reminds me that i need to make nutritional and lower calorie choices at those mini meals. over teh weekend i had several pizza meals (1piece deep dish w/ partial crust left behind ) and also mini slices of pecan pie. clearly no nutritional value there and high calorie for hte volume. i feel like i've made better choices otherwise. been having protein shakes and kashi etc. but the scale doesn't lie. the scale says i'mve done bplus at best. b minus for nutrition . ok THIS week is our week. im shooting for 3 lbs!!! wish us luck!! hugs-gordita (real name hali pronounced hayley , by the way).

Hi Gordita! I'm just checking in with you...I'm at 202 lbs. I lost 1 lb this week. I know that # could be better. I'm having difficulty with not grazing throughout the day. It snowed here yesterday and these kind of days make we want to EAT. I had 1/2 small bag of doritos, 1/2 peanut butter & jelly sandwich, 4 chips ahoy cookies with about 4 oz of milk, & about two tablespoons of mango sorbet! I'm losing my mind! I'm going to the gym to work extra hard and so far today I have been good. I had a nutribullet green juice this morning and a hard boiled egg so far. I hope you're doing better than me!

Well...you are one of the most entertaining folks on here right now. I say that with admiration! lol I "think" a lot of things but tend to keep my mouth shut and let whoever did stupid keep living.......and living stupid. Figure that they'll be fodder for some bigger fish with sharper teeth than mine! You and I also share the love dance..... I shag dance (Carolina Beach Music) and we have a club where we meet to dance each Friday night. Luckily, most of them are regulars, and I'm an officer, so I know them, but I will say that they have been super supportive. After 4-5 years of not being able to dance due to my arthritis pain, I'm back on the floor now. The first time or two, people were grabbing me and hugging me as I came off the floor like I'd been in some great competition and won... heck, I felt like I'd won! Keep up the posts and the dancing.... that's the best and most fun exercise we have! Your hubby will be throwing you up and over his shoulders and around before too long!!! lol

This is a great idea! I weighed myself today...203 lbs. I only lost 1lb this past month...all the eating and drinking because of the holidays! So..yes, let's weigh in on Wednesdays and keep each other updated. I just started back to exercising this week. Thanks for the motivation boost!
  12. i mean it's all personal choice. i track it as food since it has calories/nutrition but that's personal choice. whatever works for you long term. i remembered yesterday after i had teh world's thickest shake that took FOREVER to drink that after surgery i used to swap out 1 of the scoops of protein mix for the milk . ie instead of 2 scoops w/ water (150 cal total & 27(i think) protein) i would have 75 cal 13.5g protein for 1scoop and 100cal for milk 10g protein for 175 cal 23.5g protein). yesterday's shake was 250 cal and really hard to get down . just thick and gross. . im trying to get back to 3 meals; 2 snacks bc i think all my meals were starting to be "meals." ie no caloric difference between snacks and meals. so im trying to keep my snacks (arbitrarily picking a number here) under 200ish. meals i dont worry about as long as healthy and sleeve-sized. i hope one day this is all second nature and we don't have to think so hard about it. i actually gained 1.4 lbs last week (crazy food days to blame im sure!). one of only a couple weeks ive gained in six months. but it's a real eye opener that this surg is not fool proof and it's certainly not hte "easy way out." ugh!!! good luck.

Good luck on your challenge and thanks for posting you day. I did yesterday, 830 cottage cheese with peaches, 1000 I had my protein shake 1130 was lunch, 1 1/2 cups broccoli cheddar soup, 230 I had 2 dill pickles sliced for a snack, dinner at 5:30, left over stuffed chicken breast 3oz and some broccoli cheese rice a roni 1/4 cup, then at 830 I had an Atkins treat bar (180 cal 10 g protein.) I did not consider protein shake as food I consider it a liquid but still track the calories.., is it ok to have between breakfast and lunch or should I just do it as breakfast with the cottage cheese and peaches??
  14. part 2 i think my long term goal is going to be in the 180s -190s (staying below 200) bc i will have to weigh the mental energy it takes to fight the good fight vs how much satisfacation i'll get from being a certain weight. not to mention --and this might be pure justification --there will be less skin/wrinkles if i maintain a plumper weight... so that's where my head is at. but i am 50 lbs awawy from 185 so perhaps i should cross that bridge when i get to it : ) thanks for the messaging. very encouraging and way better than snacking : )

About Gordita
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I grew up in southwest Ga, but I've been in florida for 13 yrs. I am happily married, have a 13yr old son and am quite active despite being a fatty. I look forward to being sleeved so I can have a reset on my health. I have promised myself (and my supporters) to use the sleeve as the amazing tool it can be; to be compliant with diet and lifestyle changes as recommended by surgeon and nutritionist so that I have a new start in terms of my health/body.I picked 175 as my goal weigh just bc I wanted to add a ticker to my profile; but my real goal is to end up with an athletic build -whatever number that ends up being -and to have perfect labs and resting heart rate. Loving this forum as it encourages me, sometimes makes me laugh; and answers random qs I've had and some that I would have never even thought to ask. Here's to the journey!

strugglng lately -not whining; just documenting for my long term records

by Gordita on 03-11-2014 at 10:03 AM
struggling with consistency lately. typical pattern=3 days "on" following all rules. followed by a couple days of not exactly going crazy but not exactly following the rules. eating junk. eating off schedule. comfort eating (job!) etc. then realizing weigh-in day is coming so a couple more days of eating "right." this feels a LOT like the pattern that got me approved for surgery so that in turn is a bit depressing and you know what we do when we're stressed right? we give up

Patience is a virtue . Esp when it comes to Pixie Haircuts

by Gordita on 03-06-2014 at 06:24 PM
I have long wanted a pixie haircut.

So i talked it to death -made my husband, mom, sister-in-law and even my brother vote on it; and keeping their input in mind, decided to wait 30 or 50 more lbs in order to have a less round face when I went for it. That was months ago.

So Imagine my own surprise when I went in for a trim this past Monday and told the girl I'd like a really short, sassy pixie.

And of course I get the one hairdresser in america who

Wed weigh in.

by Gordita on 02-12-2014 at 10:44 AM
Down 2lbs since last wed weigh in. But truly that's down from Sunday when I started counting calories and trying to approach this the old school way.

teh exciting part is that number represents a breakthrough to a new low number bc id been fluctuating the past month or more at around the same 4lbs. so nice to feel i moved past that.

I plugged my stats into several calculators and have a daily calorie range based on those different outcomes that I can live with .

Calories And Staying Motivated.

by Gordita on 02-10-2014 at 09:09 AM
So Im having a hard time in last month or so staying motivated for longer than 3 days at a time. ie i MOSTLY eat right but then will choose to let a party or a whole weekend or food @ work or something throw me off track. then i panic and do right some mroe. so im not gaining per se. but im playing a dumb game where im seeing how close to the line i can get. which is prob a fine game to play once im at goal weight but im a good 70lbs away from that so right now that just smacks of self sabotage.

The Two Camps of Post Op Sleevers

by Gordita on 02-05-2014 at 10:39 AM
i shouldn't need a disclaimer on my personal blog but since it's public in nature I will just say: there are no studies backing this up. It's 100% my own conclusions based on being an active member on this website (WHICH I LOVE).

With that said:

the vsg doesn't fix our brains; just adjusts our belly capacities. As such, sleevers respond to their postop lives very differently based how their brains are wired and not how their new stomachs are plumbed.
