Hi - I saw your reply to dmt619, "I can't wait to start exercising and running again, and finishing races and beating my personal bests". I've got a similar goal, I'd like to enter a sprint triathlon where I fit in my wetsuit, I can keep up will others going uphill as well as downhill on a bike, and I can run without knee trouble. I'm a few months behind you, I start the intake process in August. I look forward to your posts / PRs. Good luck!

Even though I did the surgery a week before you did, but you're doing much better than I am which proves how strong you are! (even though I'm a tough guy ) Keep up that spirit and good work and don't let anything brings you down! I'm sure one day you'll be finishing the TOUGH MUDDER event like it's a piece of cake! You're awesome, I hope you'll have an awesome journey ahead!
  5. Ms. S and honib52, my latest blog summarizes my surgery experience. Thanks for the well wishes!

    Hi ,
I see it has been a few days since you had the surgery. I hope you are doing well and feeling positive. I too will be having Drs. Valenzuela & Cabrera perform the sleeve in just under a month. When you feel up to it, I'd appreciate any tips or observations about your experience. Take care!

I have been writing to those who are using the drs I may be using in July. I hope surgery went well and you are doing great. When you are up to it, I would like to keep in touch to see how you feel. God Bless!

Good luck today Queenmaud. You have great surgeons. I was sleeved by them on 12/07/12. Please tell them hi for me. Please let me know how you are doing for recovery!
    Sincerely,
    Jen

    Hi,

I was just checking to see when you were arriving in Tijuana. I arrive on June 5, and my surgery is on the 6th. I'm so glad to hear of someone else with the same surgeons. I have not been able to read many reviews on them, but I feel good about my choice.

I'd love to hear about any tips you might have heard on what to bring.

    See you in the hallway,
    Kim

5 Months ago today....

by queenmaud on 11-07-2013 at 07:25 PM
Times just flies by, doesn't it? Exactly 5 months ago today I was wandering up and down the halls of a hospital in Mexico, IV stand in tow, bothering our orderlies and nurses, hair matted and askew, lookin like a hot mess. It's been a fascinating, eventful, and incredibly rewarding journey to today.

The most exciting updates?? Well, I've had two people at work literally not recognize me. The first time happened when I walked up to a co-worker to ask her to sign a birthday card for

The long-awaited and elusive NSV....

by queenmaud on 09-29-2013 at 05:14 PM
I'm really not the kind of person that needs a lot of encouragement and pats on the back. But having started my weight loss surgery on May 23rd, and having lost *almost* 50 pounds since then (and 8 pants sizes and over 30 inches, but who's counting...), nobody other than my family and close friends noticed or said anything to me. Until last week. I got 7 compliments in 2 days from people who I see EVERY DAY, and literally hadn't noticed a damn thing for almost 5 months. And then, all of a sudden,

1 month Surgaversary

by queenmaud on 07-10-2013 at 10:06 PM
It's amazing to me that just over a month ago, I was in Mexico having an organ removed.... I must say, I never imagined that recovery from major surgery would go so smoothly and easily. I may have said this before, but there's marked improvement each day, in some sort of way. Either I notice more energy, or my incisions are getting better, mobility increases, etc etc. Last night I discovered I can *almost* sleep on my stomach. I was leaning over my bed to reach for my phone cord and it didn't hurt

It's really been 2 weeks???

by queenmaud on 06-22-2013 at 06:31 PM
Well now, it's been a fascinating couple of weeks since surgery. I must say that every day is better than the day before. The down and dirty stats are.... down 19 lbs and 8 inches. Total. I think I've only lost 11 since surgery. I know that my body really doesn't like losing weight at all, so while it's not a huge number, I will accept it and be happy.

I went back to work this past week, I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea, but I think it helped a lot. First of all, it got me
