    Hi Nel!
Yes, when I first got home from surgery for the first 2 weeks I would be fuzzy headed. The main reason was dehydration. It can make you dizzy, fuzzy headed, weak, dry mouth etc. Just make sure you drink a lot of fluids at this point. I had a hard time keeping my balance for some time after surgery as well. It was the weirdest thing but it has gotten better. Good luck to you!!!

Hi Nel, Thank you for the message about my little doggie, no he has not been located and I miss him so. Did your fur baby turn up? He has been such a good companion, seeing me through an ugly divorce, building a house and a life-threatening illness. He just vanished that evening chasing the darn rabbits. Are you getting excited for your surgery? I'm excited for you!

Hi, thanks so much for your kind words. As far as my toning.... I did a lot of elliptical in the beginning with some cable weights. Then I did 5 weeks of Insanity (6 days a week) and have just done cable weights and free weights ever since. Exercise really makes a huge difference. My skin's not great, but I can't imagine how bad it would be without it.

Cool. I go to the Port Jeff office too. I'm on Bicycle Path so it's only like 10 minutes away. Yeah people on here only have like a 3 day liquid diet. How can only 3 days shrink your liver?? I guess we'll get used to it. After surgery we'll be on liquids for a bit anyway so maybe it's a good idea to already be used to it. BTW ebay has the same protein powder that they sell for only $40/bag and it's 35 servings. Not as bad as $67!

Btw, where you from? I'm in Port Jefferson station

Awesome....I will totally let you know any info I find out...In his packet it says the liquid diet is 3 weeks. It's actually 2 weeks. The patient advocate sent me a copy of the pre op liquid diet and allowances. Not like 2 weeks is any less excruciating, but it's still better than 3!! Having a hard time finding protein powder with their guidelines. At least 20 grams of protein and less than 5 carbs. Not all protein powders fit this criteria. Of course the ones THEY sell do, but for $67/bag they can bite me! LOL thanks for writing and Keep in touch

6 month Surgiversary

by Nel on 02-17-2014 at 12:00 PM
Just passed on Valentine's Day :-) I am currently 14 pounds from goal (omg it seems so silly compared to 78 pounds lost but it is so slow now!) All in all, extremely happy with my results! I have lost an average of 13 pounds a month in the last 6 months, if you don't count the 2 week liquid diet! My love life is better than ever, I'm in a committed relationship with a very supportive man whom I love very much, a reconnection of sorts :-) It's funny, I was so nervous to tell the last man I was with

Dating again

by Nel on 12-14-2013 at 12:04 AM
Well I had my sleeve on Aug. 14 and am now less than 30 pounds from goal. That being said, you can definitely tell I've lost a lot of weight and all the new attention I'm getting is crazy! I met someone a few weeks after my surgery (I've lost approx. 30 pounds since meeting him) and we got pretty serious pretty quickly. Well, turns out he was a jerk. A big one…lol. And so I have experienced my first post-sleeve semi-heartbreak. I hadn't dated for awhile beforehand, so these emotions are eating

2 months post op!

by Nel on 10-16-2013 at 05:21 PM
I am two months post-op and have lost 47 pounds since I began my liquid diet. I can't even fathom how I was carrying around almost 50 pounds in addition to my weight now. I am only 3 pounds away from being considered simply "overweight" according to the BMI chart - exciting!!! I am wearing clothes from 5 years ago and even fit into my prom dress, which looks better than it did in high school. I can't wrap my head around all the compliments I am receiving (although I love them!) and

Set back :(

by Nel on 09-13-2013 at 06:00 PM
Was feeling sick last night, woke up with a 101 fever and a nasty throat - doctor confirmed it's definitely strep. Now my throat is so swollen I can barely get anything down and I'm on a huge antibiotic...haven't eaten since yesterday early and I'm feeling icky...but tomorrow is a new day. Who gets strep at 26? Grrr

Tired, so tired

by Nel on 09-11-2013 at 08:04 PM
Four weeks post op today and down roughly 30 pounds since I started my liquid diet...yay!! But on the other side of the coin, I have become increasingly exhausted. I get up at 5 am for work and find that after work by 4pm I am struggling to keep my eyes open, sometimes fall asleep on accident, and then am back in bed by 8. I am taking all of my vitamins and the B12 that used to help is no longer helping. Hoping this stage passes quickly, but hey - if this is the only complaint I have, then I'll
