How did you Nutritionist and fitness apts go?

Dinner is tough for me and my little banana tummy too! Sometimes I'm make dinner for my husband and son and just have a shake rather than packing more food in there. I'm finding that the weight comes off better if you make sure to have 4 or 5 meals or shakes. Protein is still my sticking point. Some days, I feel like I only get half of the protein so I throw in a shake for good measure. It's even tougher now that the summer fruits and veggies are in abundance.

Hope you're enjoying the boat in this terrific weather!

  2. Hi there, I saw where I never replied. We did go out on our boat on the Lake. I slathered the sunscreen and wore a hat. Sorry about your job furlough but it sounds like you are okay. I go next Monday to see the nutritionist and the fitness guy. Hoping all is well. I am ready to start a more vigorous exercise plan. I am doing pretty good. I have problem getting all 5 meals in I usually end up- with 4. I eat breakfast around 9 and then the day just goes. Dinner is the one meal that challenges me. I am trying to eat a small portion of whatever everyone else is having. I get really full. I need to be a bit more careful with my quantity because whatever I put on my plate. I eat. Well this is a learning experience. Hope you are enjoying the summer and doing good.

Hoping you had a terrific 4th. Did you have fun on the boat?

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. First day back to work after a week off. The good news (if you can call it that), I'm a Government employee about to get furloughed. I' m going to get an extra hour off a day and one day off a week. I'll be home around 2:30 in the afternoon--plenty of time to enjoy the weather.

    Have a great week!
  4. Thank you for that info. We have been planning on going on our boat this week also. I will cover up all over and load up the SPF. My husband had corn on the cob tonight. Looked good. It seemed like something way down the road. I like the meat roll ups too. I like the laughing cow. Garlic herb and mozzarella sundried tomatoe cheese wedges. Good on a wheat cracker too.

I'm so glad you're healing. I loved that mechanical soft phase! I felt like I was re-discovering food for the first time. My favorite was deli meat roll-ups with soft cheese.

Off my antibiotics from pneumonia for a week now. Went out on the boat yesterday and today and even with an SPF50, burnt myself to a crisp in the shade. Didn't know that the antibiotics were photosensitive for quite a bit after your last dose until I spoke with the pharmacist on the way home.

Be careful since you've been on antibiotics for the infection--you'll be super sensitive to sun even a week out from your last dose.
  6. I am feeling better now my leg is slowly healing. Food is going better too I am on that mechanical soft mushy. So eating some new stuff. Have been having one protein drink a day. Went to the neighbors last night had a 2 inch piece of a bratwurst and a piece if tomatoe and mozzarella cheese. So it is getting better.
Oh my goodness you had pneumonia ? You must of felt horrible. Hope you are better. I can't believe how fast the days have gone 3 weeks 3 days out already. Thanks for writing back.

So sorry--just saw your message from almost a week ago. How's everything now? Are you feeling better. The good news is, as soon as your on soft foods, you can start taking your pills without breaking them (if you can). I had a bout in the hospital as well--Thought I had a clot and ended up with two body scans and a ultrasound. Turned out to be pneumonia.

What stage of foods are you on now? I've been on regular foods for a bit and lovin' it.

  8. Hi Laura, I have had a hard week. Last Monday I had a red spot on my leg, thought it was a bite or pimple. It turned out to be an ingrown hair that bloomed into a staph infection. Yuck So it has made me feel awful. On Friday they put me on sulfa antibiotics they are horse pills! I have to cut them into 8 pieces to get them down. Twice a day. Anyway the timing really sucks. This week I am noticing my stomach and it is harder to get everything in. Even water. ( I thought I was so smart) Anyway pushing through.. I hope you are doing much better.
  9. Hi Laura, I just logged in and saw your message. Pretty good. Still trying to get my stamina back. I am doing puree foods this week and it seems like I am really watching the clock trying to drink water in between and eating 5 times. I haven't really done anything really creative. Mostly going off the sample menu they gave us. My incisions are healing good. I am a bit constipated. The nutritionist is calling tomorrow and I will see what she says. How are you doing?

Glad to hear that you're doing well. Strange that you put on 12 lbs. I had water retention going in and lost about that much the day after surgery. Funny how we all respond differently. Things should be getting quite a bit easier in the next couple of days. . .

My check back last week went really well. I get to start exercising and I'm less than a week away from regular foods.

Had a bit of a set-back yesterday: ended up in the hospital for the day. The suspected my appendics, but everything proved negative in the cat scan. I had sharp pain on my right side and haven't been able to eat anything for a couple of days now. The pain was at a 9 yesterday and at a 4 today. Waiting to hear back from Dr. Billing's assistant today on whether or not I have to come into the office (ferry boat) or since the tests all proved negative, I can stay put.

I am so glad it sounds like your recovery is going well. Just sip, sip, sip frequently throughout the day and it is supposed to get easier I was notified yesterday that my surgeon approved me, so as soon as my cash is released Mexico here I come!
